Clayton Kershaw - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tampa Bay Rays)
The Rotoworld Optimizer has Kershaw projected for 10 more fantasy points than Glasnow. Kershaw is projected for 21.0 DK points and Glasnow is projected for 11.0. I agree with these projections. On Game 1 of a World Series Showdown slate I think it’s “safe” to invest in the LA Dodgers for DFS or conventional gambling. The Dodgers are batting .350 as a team in 25 at bats against Glasnow with two home runs (both by Bellinger). The Rays are batting just .150 as a team in 57 at-bats against Kershaw with 18 total strike outs. Six of Tampas’ starting nine have sub .227 batting averages against Kershaw (three of which have high strikeout rates). The Dodgers are favored by -172 with a 7.5 O/U.
Other Pitching Option: Tyler Glasnow - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers)
Will Smith - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tyler Glasnow) FD: $6500 DK: MVP: $11700 UTL: $7800
*Barnes catching game 1 with Smith at DH*
Glasnow allows similar batting averages to righties compared to lefties (both low around .200) but out of 11 allowed home runs this season, 8 of them were to right handed batters. Smith could be a home run candidate tonight. Smith has yet to face Glasnow so we really don’t know how he will see him. With that said, this season Smith is batting .289 against opposing right handed pitchers with all eight of his home runs against right handed pitching. Will Smith is expected to be low rostered with a high floor tonight in Game 1 of the World Series.
Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs.Tyler Glasnow) FD: $7500 DK: MVP: $12300 UTL: $8800
Muncy is batting .242 with two home runs over his last 10 games. As I’ve made clear, I am all over the Dodgers tonight. I expect Muncy to bat clean-up and to be in line for many RBI opportunities. Muncy is 0 for 2 with two strikeouts against Glasnow. Not enough of a sample size to follow. If the Dodgers succeed tonight, odds are Muncy performs. The Dodgers are favored by -172 with a 7.5 O/U.
Other 1B Play: Ji - Man Choi - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Clayton Kershaw)
Brandon Lowe - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Clayton Kershaw) FD: $7500 DK: MVP: $11100 UTL: $7400
If I was to invest in one Tampa Bay Rays bat, it would be Lowe. Lowe has only faced Kershaw three times and struck out once. He’s coming into this series with a .108 batting average over his last 37 at bats. So, why take him? Well, if you’re investing in Tampa Bay, Lowe could be a low owned home run candidate. He has 15 home runs on the season but has not had it together as of late. Lowe needs to display his power and contact ability for Tampa to have a shot in this series.
Other 2B Play: Kiki Hernandez - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tyler Glasnow)
Justin Turner - Los Angeles Dodgers - (vs. Tyler Glasnow) FD: $7000 DK: MVP: $12600 UTL: $8400
Turner might be the safest Dodger at the moment. He’s sitting in the three hole racking up walks and hits but very few RBI. It’s only a matter of time before a monster game comes along. Turner is batting .340 against opposing right handed pitching in 103 at bats, and only .234 against opposing lefties in 46 at bats. L.A. batters one thru five are tonight’s bread and butter. Get funky with your MVP position (on draftkings) to afford as many Dodger sluggers as possible. Turner is a viable MVP player although I do love Kershaw for the MVP position.
Corey Seager - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tyler Glasnow) FD: $9500 DK: MVP: $15000 UTL: $10000
Seager has three home runs over his last three games. He has a .300 batting average with five home runs in his last 40 at bats. Seager, Bellinger and Turner are the most important parts to a Dodger stack. The hard part is making it work salary wise. It can be done, just think differently for the MVP position.
Cody Bellinger - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tyler Glasnow) FD: $8000 DK: MVP: $13800 UTL: $9200
Bellinger is two for two against Glasnow with two home runs. Glasnow comes into the World Series allowing .227 BAA (batting average against) over his last 10 games played. He has struggled in his last two games. He’s allowed a total of four earned runs over 8.1 innings pitched) Bellinger comes into this game batting .228 over his last 10 games but did homer in his last game. Today’s top play and X-Factor is Bellinger.
