MLB Top Plays: World Series Game 2

PITCHER

Blake Snell - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers)

The Rotoworld Optimizer does it again! Kershaw was projected for 10 more fantasy points than Glasnow. Kershaw was projected for 21.0 DK points and Glasnow was projected for 11.0 DK points. These projections were spot on. Kershaw ended with 29.70 points and Glasnow got tagged for six earned over 4.1 innings pitched. He did have seven strikeouts but in the end, the Dodgers got to him. Tonight, the Rotoworld Optimizer likes Blake Snell. Snell is projected for 14.1 DK points. Gonsolin is projected for 12.1 DK points. A slight difference but on a showdown slate, it could result in significant payout differential. Sne0ll has an average of 17.4 FPPG (fantasy points per game) on Draftkings over his last 10 outings. Also over his last 10 games, he’s maintaining a 3.34 ERA, although opposing batters are hitting .293 against him. This stat concerns me. Regardless, Snell is my top SP play tonight against a red-hot Los Angeles offense.

Other Pitching Option: Tony Gonsolin - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Tampa Bay Rays)

CATCHER

Will Smith - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Blake Snell)

Smith is one of the only Dodgers that I'm interested in rostering tonight (along with Mookie Betts and Justin Turner). Snell is allowing righties to hit better against him than opposing lefties. Specifically, righties are batting .232 in 138 at-bats. Lefties have a very tough matchup against Snell tonight as he’s only allowing a .217 batting average to opposing lefties. Smith totaled 7.0 DK points last night and is batting .294 against opposing left-handed pitchers. Expect a high floor from the Dodgers C/DH tonight in Will Smith despite facing a "lights-out" Blake Snell). The Dodgers are favored by -137 with an 8.0 O/U.

Other C Option: Mike Zunino - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin

FIRST BASE

Ji - Man Choi - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin

Gonsolin just pitched two days ago so I wouldn’t expect much from him. The 27-year-old right-handed pitcher has struggled a bit as of late. Over 6.1 innings pitched against Atlanta he allowed seven earned runs off seven hits. These were his last two starts. Choi should be cleaning up in the 4 hole. RBI opportunities will be present and at his current salaries on Draftkings and FanDuel, he’s worth the play. Choi is batting .320 over his last 25 at-bats.

Other 1B Play: Max Muncy - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Blake Snell)

SECOND BASE

Brandon Lowe - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin)

Lowe is struggling big time right now. He’s batting just .108 over his last 10 games only averaging 3.7 DK points per game. So, why do I like him? Well, he’s going to be an unpopular play and his salaries are low. His potential remains though. Lowe will come through eventually and when he does, it will be at low percentages/salaries. I can’t see Lowe not reaching value in a Tampa win. So if your narrative involves success out of the Rays, invest in Lowe at “lowe” roster percentages...Get it? Daily Fantasy advice through puns. You have to love it.

Other 2B Play: Enrique Hernandez - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Blake Snell)

THIRD BASE

Justin Turner - Los Angeles Dodgers - (vs. Blake Snell)

Yes, I still like Snell. I just can’t help but mention the value in Turner. LA’s third baseman is averaging 10.3 DK points per game over his last three outings. Turner is batting .257 over his last 10 games while averaging 7.8 DK PPG. If the Dodgers want to take this one, their right-handed batters must show up. This includes Betts, Smith, and Turner. If you’re investing in a Dodgers stack tonight, these are the players you’ll want to roster. Mookie Betts is my top right-handed Dodger batter of the day but Turner is not far behind.

Other 3B Play: Joey Wendle - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin)

SHORTSTOP

Willy Adames - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin)

Adames has been ice cold as of late. The reasoning for this pick is similar to why I like Brandon Lowe. You know you don’t always need statistical backing to roster a player. Sometimes it’s just a logical move. The key to daily fantasy is to roster players with high upside at low salaries. This is what we call value. If the Rays win tonight, someone has to produce. Right? Try to invest in the least popular Rays. Adames has a .130 batting average over his last ten games. Who’s going to be putting money behind struggling players in Lowe and Adames? The answer: Very few people. That’s where our advantage lies. Seager is a complete fade for me tonight (despite his recent success).

Other SS Play: Corey Seager - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Blake Snell)

OUTFIELD

Mookie Betts - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Blake Snell)

Betts has a .304 batting average in 24 at-bats against Snell with two doubles and one home run. Betts exploded last night for 31 DK points. Unfortunately, his salary exploded as well. Now $11,000 as a UTL player on Draftkings, Betts is close to his playoff high (in terms of salary). I hope this high salary keeps the public off him because Betts is my top play of the night. I think we can return to the well and invest in heavy shares of Betts in the UTL and MVP positions.

Other OF Play: Kevin Kiermaier - Tampa Bay Rays (vs. Tony Gonsolin)

Bargain Bin

Kevin Kiermaier

Austin Barnes

Willy Adames

Brandon Lowe
