NBA DFS Plays Tuesday January 12

by Renee Miller
Updated On: January 12, 2021, 11:15 am ET

This article aims to highlight some of the best NBA DFS Plays at every position for your cash game lineups. Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NBA News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We’ll take a look at Tuesday’s 5-6-game Main slate starting at 7:00 or 7:30 ET. DraftKings and Yahoo are including the Miami at Philadelphia (7:00) game, while FanDuel is running only the five later games (7:30). There is a chance that game could be postponed, so be sure to follow the news leading up to lock.

Yogi Ferrell – Cleveland (vs. Utah) - DK: $3,000 / FD: $3,800 / Yahoo: $10 (SG)

Ferrell just joined the Cavaliers Monday, and immediately put up stats in every category vs. Memphis. He played just 17 minutes, but returned 18 fantasy points. He’s always been a player that can fill in a DFS roster spot when given the opportunity and I’m confident that he did enough to warrant at least the same amount of playing time as long as Cleveland remains so shorthanded. As we go through my favorite plays, you’ll see why it’ll be important to prioritize saving on guards tonight.

Also Consider: Dennis Schroder, Patty Mills, Mike Conley, Stephen Curry, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Maxey (Yahoo and DraftKings), Malcolm Brogdon

Andrew Wiggins – Golden State (vs. Indiana) - DK: $6,300 / FD: $6,600 / Yahoo: $23

After a slow start, Wiggins has found his footing and has become one of the more reliable mid-range guards. I like his high floor and believe in his upside in what should be the highest scoring game of the night. It’s not always clear where the extra stats will come from (his double-digit scoring is a lock), as he’s had four blocks in a game recently, as well as ample rebounds or assists. Consider him solid in any lineup tonight. James Harden is tempting, especially if John Wall sits, but he has a tough draw with the Lakers and hasn’t exceeded 45 fantasy points in his last four games. A nice floor, but he’s priced for his ceiling, which is why I haven’t focused on him tonight.

Also Consider: James Harden, Caris LeVert, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Damyean Dotson, Donovan Mitchell, Tyler Herro (DraftKings and Yahoo), Hamidou Diallo

Kevin Durant – Brooklyn (vs. Denver) - DK: $9,400 (PF) / FD: $10,100 / Yahoo: $45 (PF)

Durant is my first priority spend at forward tonight. The Nets are still without Kyrie Irving and Durant is doing it all. He’s near the top of the league in both usage rate (30.6 percent) and player efficiency rating (26.5) in almost 35 MPG. He needs little justification as long as you can afford him and I think there’s enough value to do so tonight. This game should be high scoring and close, and with Denver ranking just 24th in defensive efficiency, I see a ceiling game for Durant.

Also Consider: LeBron James, Hamidou Diallo (DK), Lonnie Walker (DK), Justin Holiday

LaMarcus Aldridge – San Antonio (at Oklahoma City) - DK: $6,300 / FD: $7,200 / Yahoo: $25 (C)

Aldridge, like Wiggins, has the mid-range salary I want with the fantasy stability I need. His DraftKings price is especially nice. Neither of these teams is known for its frontcourt defense, and the Thunder are actually the third-best PF matchup in the league. Though Aldridge spends time at center, he will match up favorably with Al Horford and Darius Bazley. The Spurs are playing him heavy minutes, even on the recent back-to-back, giving me confidence in using Aldridge at a tricky position for all my lineups.

Also Consider: Kelly Olynyk (Yahoo and DraftKings), Royce O’Neale (if Joe Ingles is out), JaMychal Green

Nikola Jokic- Denver (at Brooklyn) - DK: $11,000 / FD: $11,400 / Yahoo: $51

Like Durant, Jokic needs little justification. These two should control this game, and Jokic has been amazing. He boasts the highest player efficiency rating and leads the league by a wide margin in both value added and estimated wins added. He is averaging a triple-double this season, and hasn’t yet missed logging a double-double. He and the Nuggets get a nice pace boost from the faster Nets, and this game carries the highest point total of the night (231) with most sportsbooks having it even.

Also Consider: Montrezl Harrell, Andre Drummond, Rudy Gobert, Al Horford

Montrezl Harrell (C – LAL) If you just can’t afford Jokic, or need a Utility, I think Harrell is a great value tonight. He’ll get one of the best center matchups with the Rockets, against whom he just put up almost 30 fantasy points, and he’s efficient. He averages well over a fantasy point per minute, and though I like him either way, if Anthony Davis does sit tonight, he’s an even better option.

Patty Mills (G – SAS) is another guard you can save on. The Spurs guard rotation is almost always super frustrating, so Mills’ continued usage isn’t something I can guarantee, but with DeMar DeRozan out, I feel pretty good about it. He’s just $4300 (FD), $5000 (DK), and $11 (Yahoo) and playing between 25-30 MPG. He has a four-game streak with at least 10 real points, and an average of 16 PPG. The point total on this game keeps going up since it opened, and the Spurs are small favorites.

Tyler Herro (G/F – MIA) is the obvious play from the shorthanded Miami Heat tonight. They had to cancel their last game due to not having enough players to play, which is a concern, but if you’re playing the six-game slate, Herro has massive potential. Herro exploded Saturday with 31 real points, nine rebounds and two assists. He and Kelly Olynyk make for strong options to round out lineups that include this game.
