Welcome all, to the restart of the 2020 NBA regular season! Louis Cangiano here, taking you through some of the top NBA daily fantasy pivots for Saturday, Aug. 1. Success in NBA DFS boils down to three important aspects: skill, time spent on the court and matchups.

I’ve been to one NBA live final by FanDuel, and came in 34th place out of 100 contestants. What did I learn? Tons! Most importantly, matchups are everything.

Point Guard

PG Patrick Beverley - Los Angeles Clippers (vs. NO) - DK: $4,200 FD: $4,900 Yahoo: $10

The New Orleans Pelican and Los Angeles Clippers have the highest under/over on this slate by far. Remember, the Clippers are without two of their best offensive weapons, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell - both of which play on the second unit. On Opening Night, Beverley was not supposed to play many minutes (none for that matter). He ended up playing 17 minutes scoring points over 16 minutes. The Clippers need Beverley at the moment. Yes, Reggie Jackson can score and is very good but his defensive abilities are nowhere near Beverley’s. The Clippers are favored by five points with a 229.5 under/over. Beverley will rack up some blocks and steals as well. What exactly is this a pivot off of? Well, in their first game without Williams and Harrell, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George went for a combined 81.1 FanDuel Points. I am not saying to fade George and Leonard, I am just pointing out that there is a real possibility Beverly and one other player could potentially vulture major points from these highly rostered superstars.

Other options: Reggie Jackson DK: $4,100 FD: $4,100 Yahoo: $10

Shooting Guard

SG Dennis Schroder - Oklahoma City Thunder - (vs. Utah Jazz) - DK: $6,600 FD: $6,300 Yahoo: $21

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has tough matchups tonight against Donovan Mitchell and/or Mike Conley. He could very well struggle to start this game. If he does struggle, on comes Dennis Schroder. Oklahoma City’s number two guard is a scoring machine and should see a much better matchup in Jordan Clarkson opposed to SGA’s matchups against Donovan Mitchell or Mike Conley. This is my GPP Pivot play of the day. Investing in Donovan Mitchell and Dennis Schroder in the same lineup makes a lot of sense. Mitchell is a solid correlation play here and he’s without a doubt my number two shooting guard on the slate.

Other option: Donovan Mitchell - Utah Jazz (@ Oklahoma City Thunder) - DK: $6,900 FD: $7,200 Yahoo: $29

Small Forward

PG/SF Landry Shamet - Los Angeles Clippers (@ New Orleans) - DK: $3,200 FD: $3,500 Yahoo: $10

Shamet is the other player that I was referring to that could, "Potentially vulture major points from these highly rostered superstars." If you don't play the Leonard/George combo, I’d advise pivoting to some of the other Clippers. Shamet played 22 minutes on Opening Night. It was obvious they needed his skill set as a point guard, shooting guard and even small forward. He did go 1 for 8 with two turnovers. Not good, but today he'll take those 22 minutes and produce fantasy goodness. Shamet will likely see much of New Orleans’ second unit. This will include a lot of, J.J. Reddick and Josh Hart. Both of these players are not particularly good defenders.

Brandon Ingram - New Orleans Pelicans (vs. Los Angeles Clippers) - DK: $7,800 FD: $7,400 Yahoo: $34

Power Forward

Pascal Siakam - Toronto Raptors - (vs. Los Angeles Lakers) - DK: $8,400 FD: $7,800 Yahoo: $37

Most will be on Anthony Davis because he’s Anthony Davis, it’s that simple. Today, why not pivot to his matchup in Siakam. Siakam played the Lakers once this season. He played 42 minutes, scored 24 points and tagged on four rebounds, three assists and three blocks as well. I say pivot off Davis and roster Siakam at a better salary and roster percentage.

Other option: Paul Milsap - Denver Nuggets (@ vs. Miami) - DK: $4,900 FD: $5,000 Yahoo: $14

Center

Bam Adebayo - Miami Heat - (vs. Denver Nuggets) - DK: $8,100 FD: $8,400 Yahoo: $39

Pay up at the center position today. Remember, just because you’re paying up, doesn’t mean you can’t be contrarian? Bam Adebayo will be needed in this matchup against Nikola Jokic. Jokic is a beast but in his one game against the Heat this season he scored nine points! Season low! I went to look at what happened, maybe he got injured? But no, he played 22 minutes and shot 4 for 12. The Heat are slight favorites at -1.5 points with a 211.5 under/over.

Punt option: JaVale McGee - Los Angeles Lakers - DK: $3,600 FD: $3,600 Yahoo: $12
