NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.
Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.
Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

Friday night has four games scheduled.
Evgeni Malkin (PIT) – C - $8,400 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $33 Yahoo
Malkin is on a five-game point streak and has recorded at least a point in 11 of his last 13 games. He’s scored seven goals and 19 points in that 13-game stretch. That gives him 18 goals and 58 points in 42 contests this season.
Patrik Laine (WPG) – W - $8,200 FanDuel, $7,500 DraftKings, $25 Yahoo
Early on in Laine’s career, it looked like he might be the second coming of Alex Ovechkin. It hasn’t quite played out that way so far, but one thing remains true: When he’s hot, there’s not much that can stop him. He’s hot right now with nine goals in his last 10 contests, making him a good gamble right now.
Sebastian Aho (CAR) – C - $7,600 FanDuel, $7,100 DraftKings, $27 Yahoo
Aho is on a seven-game point streak and a six-game goal scoring streak. It’s the latest stretch in what has been another great campaign out of him. He has 31 goals and 52 points in 56 contests this season.
Bargain Bin: Kyle Palmieri (NJD) - $6,400 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Andrei Svechnikov (CAR) - $6,300 FanDuel/$5,900 DraftKings/$23 Yahoo, Timo Meier (SJS) - $5,900 FanDuel/$5,300 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Jason Zucker (PIT) - $5,300 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$15 Yahoo, Ryan Strome (NYR) - $5,100 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG) - $5,000 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo.
Kris Letang (PIT) - $6,900 FanDuel, $6,800 DraftKings, $23 Yahoo
Letang has two goals and six points over his last five games. You’d also have to go all the way back to Jan. 10-12 to find the last time he was held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games. At this point he has 12 goals and 37 points in 47 contests.
Brent Burns (SJS) - $6,500 FanDuel, $7,000 DraftKings, $22 Yahoo
I’d recommend grabbing Burns over Letang in FanDuel, but I’m favoring Letang over Burns in DraftKings, based on their cost in each league. Burns has 12 goals and 37 points in 56 contests this season. He’s on a three-game point streak and has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last five contests.
Bargain Bin: Erik Karlsson (SJS) - $5,800 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Jaccob Slavin (CAR) - $5,000 FanDuel/$5,200 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo, Neal Pionk (WPG) - $54,700 FanDuel/$5,100 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo.
Elvis Merzlikins (CLM) - $8,600 FanDuel, $8,100 DraftKings, $38 Yahoo
Merzlikins has lost his last two starts, but he allowed just two goals in each of those games, so that’s hardly on him. Dating back to Jan. 11th, he has an 8-1-1 record, 1.20 GAA, and .959 save percentage in 10 starts. The Blue Jackets opponent on Friday is the Rangers, who are playing for the third time in four nights while Columbus is playing for the second day in a row, but at least will be at home and were well rested before this back-to-back stretch.
Bargain Bin: Petr Mrazek (CAR) - $8,100 FanDuel/$8,200 DraftKings/$32 Yahoo.
