NHL Plays: Saturday

by Ryan Dadoun
Updated On: November 30, 2019, 4:12 am ET

NHL Plays will highlight the best and the most underrated daily fantasy options among forwards, defensemen and goaltenders.

Please note, these players were chosen early in the day, so make sure to check Rotoworld’s player news for any lineup changes, injuries and potential changes in the crease for starting goaltenders.

Additionally, it is worth reminding everyone that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UTIL) and Yahoo has a $200 budget for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 2G).

There are 13 games on Saturday, but two of them are afternoon contests, so I’m going to focus on the 11 contests that start at 7:00 p.m. ET or later.

Forwards:

Nikita Kucherov (TBL) – W - $8,200 FanDuel, $7,300 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Kucherov has recorded three points in each of his last two games. That’s propelled him to nine goals and 27 points in 22 games this season. He had a slow start to the campaign, but he’s back to his old self.

Jake Guentzel (PIT) – W - $7,900 FanDuel, $7,000 DraftKings, $26 Yahoo

Guentzel extended his seven-game point streak on Friday by scoring a goal and an assist. He’s also found the back of the net in four straight contests. He’s up to 15 goals and 27 points in 26 contests this season.

Elias Pettersson (VAN) – C - $7,600 FanDuel, $6,300 DraftKings, $28 Yahoo

Pettersson has scored at least a goal in three of his last four contests. He’s been pretty effective for a while too, collecting five goals and 10 points over his last eight games. That gives him 11 goals and 31 points in 26 contests in 2019-20.

Logan Couture (SJS) – C - $7,300 FanDuel, $6,000 DraftKings, $24 Yahoo

Couture has recorded at least a point in eight of his last nine games and nine of his last 11 contests. He’s scored five goals and 16 points over that span, including a goal in Friday’s contest.

David Perron (STL) – W - $6,700 FanDuel, $5,100 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

Perron registered two assists on Friday to extend his point streak to six games. He’s up to 11 goals and 26 points in 27 contests. For his price, he’s having an amazing season.

Blake Wheeler (WPG) – C - $6,600 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings, $21 Yahoo

Wheeler is on a three-game multi-point streak. He’s had a bit of a slow start by his standards with 18 points in 26 games, but given how hot he is, he’s worth taking a chance on at that price.

Bargain Bin: Patrick Kane (CHI) - $8,600 FanDuel/$7,700 DraftKings/$33 Yahoo, Patrik Laine (WPG) - $7,600 FanDuel/$6,400 DraftKings/$25 Yahoo, Mark Scheifele (WPG) - $7,400 FanDuel, $5,800 DraftKings/$25 Yahoo, Ryan O'Reilly (STL) - $6,800 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$22 Yahoo, Kyle Connor (WPG) - $6,600 FanDuel/$5,800 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Brayden Schenn (STL) - $6,200 FanDuel/$4,900 DraftKings/$20 Yahoo, Bo Horvat (VAN) - $6,100 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Oliver Bjorkstrand (CLM) - $5,200 FanDuel/$4,500 DraftKings/$17 Yahoo

Defensemen:

Zach Werenski (CLM) - $5,900 FanDuel, $5,500 DraftKings, $17 Yahoo

Werenski has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last nine games. It’s been a big turnaround from a somewhat slow start to the season and it makes him a pretty good value pickup at this time.

Kevin Shattenkirk (TBL) - $5,100 FanDuel, $4,800 DraftKings, $19 Yahoo

Shattenkirk is on a four-game point streak after registering an assist on Friday. He’s up to five goals and 19 points in 23 games, which is great for a defenseman at his price.

Bargain Bin: Seth Jones (CLM) - $5,300 FanDuel/$5,500 DraftKings/$19 Yahoo, Aaron Ekblad (FLA) - $4,800 FanDuel/$5,000 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo, Tyson Barrie (TOR) - $4,700 FanDuel/$5,200 DraftKings/$18 Yahoo

Goaltenders:

Frederik Andersen (TOR) - $8,400 FanDuel, $8,400 DraftKings, $35 Yahoo

The Maple Leafs and the Sabres also played on Friday with Buffalo taking that game, so Toronto will be looking for a bit of revenge. Because the Maple Leafs threw out Michael Hutchinson for Friday’s contest, Andersen is fresh to start tonight. He had a 25-save shutout in his last start and has allowed just four goals over his last three games.

David Rittich (CGY) - $8,200 FanDuel, $8,000 DraftKings, $34 Yahoo

Rittich has been hit-and-miss this season with an 11-7-4 record, 2.76 GAA, and .913 save percentage in 22 starts. That said, he’s up against the lowly Ottawa Senators on Saturday, so if you’re going to bet on him, this would be a good time. There are still better goaltenders out there of course, but if you want to save money on goaltending then he’s a solid way to attempt that.

Bargain Bin: Jordan Binnington (STL) - $8,900 FanDuel/$7,900 DraftKings/$35 Yahoo, Curtis McElhinney (TBL) - $8,100 FanDuel/$7,800 DraftKings/$24 Yahoo, Philipp Grubauer (COL) - $7,700 FanDuel/$8,100 DraftKings/$25 Yahoo, Ilya Samsonov (WAS) - $7,500 FanDuel/$7,800 DraftKings/$29 Yahoo
