Mark Stone (Vegas) - W - $7,000 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)
The newly-minted captain of the Golden Knights has plenty of appeal going into Thursday night’s matchup against Anaheim. Stone racked up nine points, including seven assists, in four games versus the Ducks last season. That includes three multi-point performances. Stone amassed 21 goals and 63 points in 65 games with Vegas last season. He is slated to open the season alongside Max Pacioretty and Chandler Stephenson.
Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina) - W - $7,000 (FanDuel), $6,600 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo)
Svechnikov exploded for 24 goals and 61 points in 68 games last season. He picked up one goal and three assists in three outings against Detroit last year, while recording 10 shots on target. Svechnikov will be looking for another hot start. Even if he doesn’t start Thursday’s game alongside Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen, Svechnikov will be an option to move up and he will more than likely see time on the top power-play unit.
Mark Scheifele (Winnipeg) - W - $7,300 (FanDuel), $5,800 (DraftKings), $25 (Yahoo)
Scheifele potted 29 goals and accounted for 73 points in 71 games last season. The Jets top center has one goal and two assists in his last four outings versus Calgary. Scheifele also checks in with a great salary on DraftKings and Yahoo. He is poised to open the year alongside Blake Wheeler.
Kevin Fiala (Minnesota) - W - $6,700 (FanDuel), $6,500 (DraftKings), $22 (Yahoo)
Fiala amassed 23 goals and 54 points in 64 games last season. He is unlikely to slow down this campaign in what could be a continuation of his breakout offensively. Fiala and the Wild also have a favorable matchup against Los Angeles. He is slated to skate alongside Nick Bonino and Marcus Johansson, but should get time on the top power-play unit.
Brock Nelson (NY Islanders) - C - $5,700 (FanDuel), $6,400 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)
Nelson has plenty of bang for the buck potential on Thursday night. He had a strong postseason after he produced 26 goals and 54 points across 68 matches during the regular season. Nelson also played very well against the Rangers in 2019-20 with three goals and two assists in four contests. He is projected to play between Josh Bailey and Anthony Beauvillier.
Bargain Bin: Paul Stastny (WPG) - C - $5,000 (FanDuel), $4,900 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo), Nick Bjugstad (MIN) - C - $4,300 (FanDuel), $3,500 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo), Elias Lindholm (CGY) - W - $5,200 (FanDuel), C - $5,300 (DraftKings), W - $18 (Yahoo), Oliver Bjorkstrand (CBJ) - W $5,100 (FanDuel), $5,100 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Chandler Stephenson (VGK) - C - $3,300 (FanDuel), $3,700 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo), Nils Hoglander (VAN) - $3,000 (FanDuel), $2,800 (DraftKings), $10 (Yahoo),
John Carlson (Washington) - $6,600 (FanDuel), $6,900 (DraftKings), $26 (Yahoo)
Carlson led all defensemen in points (75) and assists (60) in 69 games last season. He also led all blueliners with 24 multi-point efforts. Washington has a good matchup on Thursday night against Buffalo.
Neal Pionk (Winnipeg) - $4,800 (FanDuel), $5,100 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo)
Pionk produced six goals and 45 points in 71 games during his first season with the Jets. He also tied for third in the league with 25 power-play points. Additionally, Pionk was credited with 78 blocks and 165 hits. He brings a bit of everything to the table and has plenty of bang for the buck potential as a result.
Matt Grzelcyk (Boston) - $4,100 (FanDuel), $3,300 (DraftKings), $11 (Yahoo)
Grzelcyk would have been mentioned in the bargain bin section, but he’s worth highlighting because he is projected to quarterback Boston’s top power-play unit. David Pastrnak won’t be available for Boston’s opener, but there is still plenty of firepower on that combination and Grzelcyk has plenty of under-the-radar upside.
Bargain Bin: Quinn Hughes (VAN) - $5,500 (FanDuel), $4,800 (DraftKings), $19 (Yahoo), Rasmus Dahlin (BUF) $4,800 (FanDuel), $4,100 (DraftKings), $16 (Yahoo), Ryan Pulock (NYI) - $4,700 (FanDuel), $5,600 (DraftKings), $17 (Yahoo), Adam Fox (NYR) - $4,100 (FanDuel), $4,700 (DraftKings), $18 (Yahoo)
Petr Mrazek (Carolina) - $8,100 (FanDuel), $8,400 (DraftKings), $33 (Yahoo)
Mrazek has a very good matchup on opening night against Detroit. The Red Wings averaged a league-low 2.00 goals for game played last season. Mrazek went 2-0-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in two games versus his former team last year.
Cam Talbot (Minnesota) - $7,400 (FanDuel), $7,900 (DraftKings), $32 (Yahoo)
Talbot has all the makings of a strong situation for Thursday night. He won’t break the bank, plays on a strong defensive team and is playing against a Los Angeles squad that struggled to score last season. He had a 1-0-0 record with a 2.26 goals-against average and .927 save percentage in two appearances versus the Kings last season.
Bargain Bin: Darcy Kuemper (ARI) $7,500 (FanDuel), $8,000 (DraftKings), Joonas Korpisalo (CBJ) - $7,300 (FanDuel), $7,400 (DraftKings), $32 (Yahoo), Thatcher Demko (VAN) - $7,200 (FanDuel), $7,600 (DraftKings), $27 (Yahoo), Juuse Saros (NSH) - $6,900 (FanDuel), $8,100 (DraftKings), $34 (Yahoo)
