Ready to bet the first period Over again?

Can we do it again? Can we cash another first period hockey over in the Stanley Cup Final?

I’m ready if you are.

The Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning have flown Over 1.5 goals in four of five first periods in the series. We wrote about the white hot first period trend before Game 3 and Game 4 right here on Rotoworld and it came through both times with three goals in the first 20 minutes.

(Full disclaimer: The first period Over did not cash in Game 5.)

Oddsmakers continue to line the full game total at O/U 5 with heavy juice to the over. This benefits our bet because a low full game total makes it more difficult to reach two goals in a period according to the math. PointsBet Sportsbook is dealing Over 1.5 first period goals at +110 tonight.

I have watched all five first periods  one of them on my iPhone during a wedding reception  and I've been enamored with how fast the tempo has been out of the chute. Granted, Game 5 was a little bit slower early, but that tends to happen when teams have to play back-to-back nights.

Dallas and Tampa are loaded with speedy skill players that buzz around the ice. And the chances have been out of this world. We've talked at length about how both teams have discussed the importance of scoring the game's first goal. Neither club is sitting back and waiting for the game to come their way. It's more of a "get the puck and get out of my way" type pace.

Most importantly, these teams continue to light the lamp in the first period. Tampa is 8-and-3 to the Over in their last 11 first periods. And if you remove the very slow series against Vegas, Dallas Overs are 12-and-5 in their last 17. Trends don't pay the rent, until they do.

Let's run it back (again).

Play on Lightning-Stars Over 1.5 first period goals (+110).
