Each week I provide a Perfect XI of my own for the upcoming gameweek of Premier League fixtures, recommending 11 players to consider along with some honourable mentions for each position. The main 11 players listed won't necessarily be the exact players selected for my own Perfect XI fantasy side. The point of this column isn't to tell you exactly who to pick; it's to present some ideas to get you thinking. Hopefully you'll find the advice useful, whether you're playing Togga's game or looking at potential transfers for your official Fantasy Premier League team.
Week 13 started off well for my own PXI but ended badly as my Manchester City contingent combined for MINUS points (cheers Otamendi) and left me on a disappointing 100 points for the week. As a result I've dropped to just outside the Top 500, which puts a dent in the recent recovery. Time to bounce back.
Week 14 brings us a midweek round of fixtures starting at 7:45pm GMT on Tuesday evening here in the UK and continuing through Wednesday evening. It's important to have your fantasy team locked in ready for the Tuesday kick-offs but remember in Perfect XI you can swap out a player from your squad right up to one minute before their match kicks off and bring in an alternative player whose match is also yet to kick off. This wonderful flexibility allows you to avoid the pain of a surprise benching or unreported last minute injury and a big fat ZERO. Just make sure you keep an eye on the starting line-ups as kick off approaches each week by following the Rotoworld PL Twitter account.
Here are your Week 14 fixtures:
Tuesday 28 November
Brighton v Crystal Palace
Leicester v Spurs
Watford v Man Utd
West Brom v Newcastle
Wednesday 29 November
Arsenal v Huddersfield
Bournemouth v Burnley
Chelsea v Swansea
Everton v West Ham
Man City v Southampton
Stoke v Liverpool
Our clear focus for midweek should be on Manchester City at home to Southampton, Chelsea at home to Swansea and Arsenal at home to Huddersfield. Liverpool attackers away at Stoke could offer value, while Spurs and Manchester United will be favourites to win their away clashes, but I feel it's definitely safer to focus on the home sides mentioned.
Here's a very quick run through of my selection. Little analysis due to the quick turnaround, family commitments the fact the picks are fairly self-explanatory...
Thibaut Courtois - home to Swansea. Clean sheet certainty against a toothless attack.
Honourable Mentions: Ederson at home to Southampton, Petr Cech at home to Huddersfield
Sead Kolasinac - home to Huddersfield. Clean sheet opportunity and the chance to get forward down the left flank for the Gunners.
Kyle Walker - home to Southampton. Same as above but down the right flank for Man City.
Marcos Alonso - home to Swansea. See Courtois plus attacking stuff.
Charlie Daniels - home to Burnley. A hunch feeling that he could pop up with an assist or even a goal.
Honourable Mentions: Cesar Azpilicueta at home to Swansea, Shane Duffy at home to Crystal Palace, Nicolas Otamendi at home to Southampton, Antonio Valencia away at Watford, Danny Rose away at Leicester
Eden Hazard - home to Swansea. In scintillating form for the Blues.
Aaron Ramsey - home to Huddersfield. I feel he'll step up in the absence of Mesut Ozil who will remain out due to illness.
Kevin De Bruyne - home to Southampton. Quiet against Huddersfield but due a performance in front of the home fans.
Philippe Coutinho - away at Stoke. Doesn't he always score against the Potters?
Alvaro Morata - home to Swansea. The Spaniard is the must-have pick of the week given his form and the opposition.
Gabriel Jesus - home to Southampton. Certain to lead the line after Sergio Aguero started the past two in a row.
Honourable Mentions: Mohamed Salah away at Stoke, Alexis Sanchez at home to Huddersfield, Callum Wilson at home to Burnley, Harry Kane away at Leicester, Romelu Lukakau away at Watford, Richarlison at home to Manchester United
