Golf Channel (NBC Sports Predictor App)

The Golf Channel has an exciting fantasy golf game for 2019.

The format is simple as you pick six head-to-head matchups. Then you pick a winner and winning score.

The winner/winners split this week's top prize of $1,500. Anyone that earns 60 points for the week is also given an entry to the FootJoy $100,000 Championship which is a multi-week elimination-style contest that will take place later in the season.

We will provide our picks for the format below and then provide some notes about why we chose our matchup picks or why we like a certain golfer to win.

Josh Culp

Top Weekly Score: 85 pts

Justin Rose over Jon Rahm
Rickie Fowler over Jordan Spieth
Francesco Molinari over Xander Schauffele
Paul Casey over Kevin Kisner
Zach Johnson over Ian Poulter
Bryson DeChambeau over Tony Finau

Justin Rose (-12)

Josh's Notes:

A close battle with Rose versus Rahm. Who ever wins this matchup could very well win the event, as well. Rose is the defending champ and has beaten Rahm in 11 of the 15 tournaments they've played together over the last year. I will go with Rosey to defend his title but at a much-lower score with the winds in the forecast this week.

I'm not ready to declare Spieth's slump busted because last week's strong finish was buoyed by a career-best putting week. He still needs to tidy up the driving accuracy.

In the next matchup we have Molinari versus Schauffele. Xander's game is more suited to an air-it-out type of strategy which isn't the preferred route at Colonial CC. I will lean with the course fit and choose the Italian here.

Next have Kisner versus Casey. Kisner gets a big bump this week due to course fit and course history (win and two other top 10 in five tries at Colonial). However, Casey's game translates to all venues and he's beaten Kisner in 8-of-14 crossover events over the last season.

Johnson versus Poulter is another tight race. What will be the tiebreaker for me? How about course history? Johnson is a two-time champ at Colonial Country Club while Poulter is making his first appearance here since 2016. I'll side with comfort and lean ZJ.

Lastly, I'll go with the Mad Scientist over Finau. DeChambeau is slumping with back-to-back missed cuts but he hasn't missed three in a row since 2017. He's posted a pair of top 5s at Harbour Town which is what I consider the closest comp to Colonial. He's likely on the driving range as I type this, trying to grind his way back into contention.

Mo Yoshimoto

Top Weekly Score: 65 pts

Jon Rahm over Justin Rose
Jordan Spieth over Rickie Fowler
Francesco Molinari over Xander Schauffele
Kevin Kisner over Paul Casey
Zach Johnson over Ian Poulter
Tony Finau over Bryson DeChambeau

Jon Rahm (-14)

Mo's Notes:

Took a bath last week with Rahm missing the cut but one at the PGA.

Had the right winning score (-8), but obviously the wrong golfer.

Going back to the well with Rahm again this week.

He was top debutant here in 2017 with T2, and chased with T5 last year, both times in the the top 10 thru 54 holes.

The Arizona State alum also has a stellar record in Texas, posting three top 10s in 2017, including two runners-up.

Hasn't had a top 10 in Texas yet this season, but just one event played so far (T24/Match Play).

The Spaniard enters ranked 2nd on TOUR in top-10 finishes with eight in 13 starts.

After the MC at the PGA (70-75), expecting a bounce-back week from the 24-year-old.
