Welcome to Week Two of the Rotoworld Fantasy Football blog. I am glad to be back for another year to cover all of the action from week to week. In this second week, we should be paying close attention to last week's surprises to see if the potential breakouts continue. This would include WRs John Ross and Marquise Brown, along with QB Lamar Jackson.
Today also brings the debut of WR Antonio Brown with the New England Patriots after what has been a surreal offseason for Brown. His troubles are not over yet as the NFL will begin an investigation into the latest accusations about a possible sexual assault. For now, he's expected to be on the field for New England.
As always over the past few years, I'll bring you updates on all touchdowns, injuries, big plays and more throughout the day. Buckle up!
(7:35PM) That's all for Week Two. Enjoy the games the next two nights and good luck in all of your fantasy matchups.
(7:34PM) The Rams closed things out and won the big game over the Saints, who seemingly never had a chance following the loss of QB Drew Brees. It also didn't help when yet another bad call went against them, costing them a defensive score late in the first half.
(7:31PM) BIG PLAY- After getting the ball back with around 30 seconds left, the Bears quickly moved down the field, argued for time to be out back on the clock and nailed a field goal to win the game.
(7:27PM) The Chiefs finished off the Raiders in a 28-10 win in which all of their points came in the second quarter.
(7:24PM) BIG PLAY- What a strange ending to a game. After the Broncos touchdown, they lined up to try a two-pointer to win the game. A delay of game pushed them back and they pivoted to the extra point attempt. A missed extra point caused a Bears celebration before a flag was thrown. A penalty put the ball back on the two-yard line and Denver went for two. QB Joe Flacco hit WR Emmanuel Sanders for the go-ahead score with just over 30 seconds remaining.
(7:20PM) TD- With time running out, Broncos QB Joe Flacco connected with WR Emmanuel Sanders, who made an amazing diving catching in the back corner of the end zone. Sanders has 11 catches for 98 yards and a score.
(7:06PM) TD- Rams WR Cooper Kupp just put the Saints away with an amazing catch and run that saw him breaking tackle after tackle on his way to a 67-yard score. The Rams lead 26-9 midway through the final quarter.
(7:03PM) INJURY- Saints WR Tre'Quan Smith had a long gain of 28 yards that eventually led to a field goal, but as he went down, Smith's ankle rolled up on him and he was taken to the locker room.
(6:59PM) INJURY- Chiefs RB Damien Williams has left the game and is questionable to return with a knee injury. Leading 28-10 in the fourth quarter, we may have seen the last of Williams in this game. He's run the ball nine times for just eight yards, but does have three catches for 48 yards.
(6:44PM) TD- The Rams are pouring it on now as QB Jared Goff found WR Brandin Cooks for a two-yard touchdown. The Rams took over close to the red zone after a 32-yard return from JoJo Natson. Cooks now has a 3/74/1 line for the game.
(6:33PM) TD- After the Saints tied the game with a field goal early in the second half, the Rams have answered. RB Todd Gurley scored the first touchdown of the game on a four-yard run. Gurley has 49 total yards on 14 touches in the game.
(6:27PM) Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and rookie WR Mecole Hardman connected for another long play, but unfortunately this one did not count after it was called back due to a RB Carlos Hyde hold. The pass play would've been good for a 72-yard score.
(6:24PM) TD- After six quarters of football this season, the Bears have finally found the end zone. Rookie RB David Montgomery leaped over the line and barely got the ball across the goalline for his first career score.
(6:16PM) BIG PLAY- It had been a quiet day for Raiders rookie RB Josh Jacobs but that changed early in the third quarter as he rumbled for 51 yards and got Oakland close to the red zone.
(6:04PM) While you might not be able to tell from the recent updates, there are three games going on, not just the Chiefs and Raiders matchup. The Rams are hosting the Saints and leading 6-3 to begin the second half. QB Drew Brees remains out of the game with no indication he will return. The Bears and Broncos have the same 6-3 score with Chicago in the lead to start the third quarter.
(5:45PM) TD- Okay, now this is getting out of hand. The Chiefs have scored again as QB Patrick Mahomes found his favorite target of the day, WR Demarcus Robinson, for a 39-yard touchdown pass. Kansas City leads 28-10 and the Raiders can't wait to get to halftime.
(5:38PM) TD- The Raiders scored the first ten points but it has been all Chiefs since then. QB Patrick Mahomes just tossed his third touchdown pass of the second quarter, this one going to TE Travis Kelce, who made a juggling catch for the 27-yard score. Kansas City leads 21-10.
