Welcome to Week Three of the 2019 NFL season. The game of the day happens early when the Chiefs host the Ravens in a rainy Kansas City. Along with that marquee showdown of QBs Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson, the other story of the weekend will be the many injured players who won't be on the field, including veteran QBs Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees. Also, with another vet QB Eli Manning benched, the Daniel Jones' ear begins for the Giants.
(7:41PM) BIG PLAY- Finally, the Chargers and QB Phillip Rivers had a chance to steal a win against Houston late in the game but his fourth-down pass attempt sailed wide. The Texans get a huge road win.
(7:33PM) TD- In a meaningless final play, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson found TE Will Dissly for a four-yard score, making the final score 33-27 in a game that was not nearly as close as the score indicates.
(7:27PM) Some final scores from the late games...
San Francisco 24, Pittsburgh 20
New York Giants 32, Tampa Bay 31
Carolina 38, Arizona 20
(7:18PM) TD- You didn't expect the Seahawks to give up, did you? QB Russell Wilson led another scoring drive resulting in an eight-yard rushing score for the quarterback. That made it 33-21 but the onside kick failed and this game is all but over.
(7:15PM) TD- It has not been a good start to the season for 49ers WR Dante Pettis, who has barely played through two games. He is slightly more involved today though and just caught a touchdown to give his team the lead. Pettis still has just 20 yards on four catches.
(7:09PM) TD- The Texans never use their tight ends. Until they do. QB Deshaun Watson connected with a tight end for the third time today resulting in a touchdown. TE Jordan Akins caught and ran for a 53-yard score to extend the Houston lead to ten points. Akins has 3/73/2 for the game.
(7:07PM) TD- The Seahawks Offense woke up in the second half but a comeback is not in the cards. RB Alvin Kamara got better as the game went along and just put it away with a short rushing touchdown after doing much of the work on the drive. Kamara is up to 151 total yards and the score.
(6:46PM) TD- The Texans have regained the lead over the Chargers as QB Deshaun Watson found a tight end for the second touchdown today, this one going to TE Jordan Akins. Watson has 268 passing yards and two scores. He's only been sacked once today.
(6:42PM) TD- In the red zone and hoping to kick start a huge comeback, QB Russell Wilson called his own number, rushing for a two-yard score. New Orleans still leads 27-14 early in the final quarter.
(6:31PM) TD- After his solid performance in Week Two, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan called RB Jeff Wilson his goal-line back. Today, he is proving it as Wilson just scored for the second time today. San Francisco is back in the lead.
(6:29PM) TD- The Texans have closed the gap and the Chargers now lead by just three points. RB Carlos Hyde capped off a lengthy drive with a three-yard score, making it 17-14.
(6:25PM) TD- The Steelers Offense has struggled all game but it only takes one play to change the direction. QB Mason Rudolph hit a streaking WR JuJu Smith-Schuster who outran 49ers defenders on his way to a 76-yard touchdown. Pittsburgh now leads 13-10.
(6:19PM) TD- Panthers QB Kyle Allen has done it again, throwing his fourth touchdown pass and the second to TE Greg Olsen. Carolina leads the Cardinals 34-20 and Allen has 246 yards along with the four scores.
(6:15PM) TD- Let's just say the decision to start QB Daniel Jones was a good one. Jones threw a dime to WR Sterling Shepard for a seven-yard score, cutting the Buccaneers' lead down to just a field goal.
(6:07PM) TD- Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey made that one look easy. He ran up the middle and could not be caught, rushing for a 76-yard touchdown.
(6:06PM) TD- On their first possession of the second half, the 49ers have the lead. RB Jeff Wilson finished off the drive with a one-yard score.
(6:00PM) TD- The good news for the Giants is that rookie QB Daniel Jones hit TE Evan Engram for a deep 75-yard touchdown. Engram has a 5/112/1 line for the game. Engram is now the TE3 for the week with nearly a full half of football left.
(5:58PM) INJURY- The Giants have ruled out RB Saquon Barkley for the remainder of the game. It has been reported that he has a high ankle sprain, which would likely be a multi-week injury. Wayne Gallman is the next man up.
(5:51PM) TD- The Panthers answered Arizona's touchdown with one of their own. QB Kyle Allen hit TE Greg Olsen for s three-yard score to give Carolina the lead. Olsen leads the team with 77 yards on five catches.
(5:46PM) You might have noticed the lack of updates from the Steelers/49ers game. With the Steelers holding a 6-3 lead, the game is at the half. QB Mason Rudolph, taking over for the injured QB Ben Roethlisberger has passed for just 40 yards. Star WR JuJu Smith-Schuster has two catches for five yards. RB James Conner has seven carries for 18 yards. This is not the Steelers Offense you know and love.
(5:41PM) TD- Cardinals QB Kyler Murray made a nifty throw and then RB David Johnson escaped multiple defenders on his way to a three-yard touchdown. That gives Arizona the lead early in the third quarter.
(5:40PM) TD- The Saints Offense just isn't the same without QB Drew Brees, but RB Alvin Kamara is still pretty good. QB Teddy Bridgewater found Kamara for a short pass and the back did the rest for a 29-yard score, extending the New Orleans lead. Kamar is up to 74 yards on the day with halftime approaching.
(5:31PM) TD- Hat trick! Buccaneers WR Mike Evans caught his third touchdown of the day from 20 yards out. He's up to 131 yards on six catches in the game.
(5:30PM) INJURY- The Giants are calling RBs Saquon Barkley's injury and ankle issue and labeled him questionable to return.
(5:27PM) BIG PLAY- After his third lost fumble in three weeks, Seattle RB Chris Carson is on the sidelines and backup RB C.J. Prosise is now in the game. RB Rashaad Penny is inactive after a late-week injury.
(5:25PM) INJURY- For the second time today, Giants RB Saquon Barkley is on the sidelines with an injury. Barkley was hit hard in the leg and fell awkwardly before limping to the sideline with an apparent knee injury. Barkley needed help in getting to the locker room.
(4:59PM) It is not even halftime yet and Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has already outscored all other wideouts from earlier games in the week. He's the WR1 for Week Three, for now.
(4:56PM) BIG PLAY- I hope you bought low on WR Mike Evans. After two earlier scores, Evans hauled in a 55-yarder to put his team in the red zone. Evans has five grabs for 111 yards and the two scores.
(4:53PM) TD- The Seahawks have tied the game as they quickly moved down the field. QB Russell Wilson connected with WR Tyler Lockett for an eight-yard score. Lockett has a 3/43/1 line so far in this game.
(4:50PM) TD- One reason fantasy players should be excited about QB Daniel Jones is not only the likely upgrade to all Giants skill-position players but also Jones' rushing ability. The rookie from Duke just ran it in from seven yards for the touchdown.
(4:48PM) INJURY- Giants RB Saquon Barkley is back on the field.
(4:46PM) Rookie QB Daniel Jones drew the first start of his career and looks the part early. Jones has completed eight of his first ten attempts for 77 yards and also broke an 11-yard run.
(4:45PM) INJURY- Giants RB Saquon Barkley is off the field and in the blue medical tent after a hard hit to his head/should area. The exact injury is unclear.
(4:37PM) TD- Given what we've seen of QB Cam Newton the past two weeks, it may not be a stretch to say that backup QB Kyle Allen is actually an upgrade, at least until Newton is healthy. Allen just led an 11-play drive that was capped by a touchdown pass from Allen to WR Curtis Samuel, who has a 3/24/1 line for the game.
(4:35PM) TD- After Texans QB Deshaun Watson inexplicably spiked the ball backward, allowing the Chargers to recover the fumble, QB Philip Rivers took advantage of the short field. He found WR Keenan Allen for a seven-yard score to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead.
(4:33PM) TD- Mike Evans is back! Back to the end zone, that is. After two quiet weeks to begin the season, Evans already has two touchdowns in this game, along with 56 yards on four catches.
(4:31PM) TD- The Saints may not have QB Drew Brees but they do have a lead. Deonte Harris returned a punt 53 yards for a touchdown. The Saints Offense has not touched the ball yet, but we'll be watching how they use QBs Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill.
(4:29PM) We have five late games, including Carolina/Arizona, Giants/Tampa Bay, Houston/Chargers, Pittsburgh/San Francisco and New Orleans/Seattle.
(4:15PM) The early games are now wrapped up. Here are your final scores...
Dallas 31, Miami 6
Green Bay 27, Denver 16
Indianapolis 27, Atlanta 24
Minnesota 34, Oakland 14
New England 30, New York Jets 14
Detroit 27, Philadelphia 24
Kansas City 33, Baltimore 28
Buffalo 21, Cincinnati 17
(4:07PM) TD- It is too little, too late for the Ravens but QB Lamar Jackson scored on a short run to cut the lead to just five points. A unique onside drop kick failed and the Chiefs have the ball back.
(4:05PM) TD- In one of the many close games of the early slate, the Bills have regained the lead over the Bengals on a short run from RB Frank Gore. Buffalo leads 21-17 with under two minutes remaining.
(4:00PM) TD- Rookie RB Tony Pollard is getting some work in mop-up duty and it has resulted in a big fantasy day for the Dallas back. Pollard just broke free for a 16-yard touchdown run and is now up to 128 total yards in the game.
(3:49PM) TD- The Vikings took an early commanding lead and the Raiders were never in the game. They did just find the end zone to cut the lead to 20 points late in the fourth quarter as QB Derek Carr found WR Tyrell Williams for an 11-yard score. Williams has just three catches for 29 yards in the game while TE Darren Waller is up to 13 catches for 134 yards.
(3:45PM) TD- Due to injuries, many expected a big day from Eagles WR Nelson Agholor and he hasn't disappointed. Agholor just caught his second touchdown of the game, along with a 6/43/2 line. RB Miles Sanders actually leads the Eagles in receiving with 73 yards on two catches.
(3:43PM) TD- The Jest have scored a pair of touchdown, but both coming on defense. This means that the Patriots Defense has still not allowed a touchdown in the first three games.
(3:42PM) INJURY- Chiefs RB LeSean McCoy has evidently aggravated his ankle injury and is questionable to return to the game.
(3:40PM) TD- The Bills Offense has been horrific in the second half, allowing the Bengals to get back in the game. QB Andy Dalton just connected with RB Joe Mixon for a one-yard score, tying the game at 14 early in the fourth quarter.
(3:35PM) TD- The Chiefs are comfortably winning but RB Mark Ingram now has the trifecta. He's scored his third rushing touchdown of the game, along with 95 yards. The Ravens then went for two but did not make it. The trail in Kansas City by 11 points.
(3:32PM) INJURY- The Patriots, with a 23-point lead, have ruled WR Julian Edelman (chest) out for the game.
(3:29PM) TD- After seeing their once-comfortable lead cut down to three points, the Colts had an answer. RB Marlon Mack scored on a nifty four-yard run. That eases the pain of a poor game for Mack, who has rushed for 34 yards on 11 carries.
(3:25PM) BIG PLAY- With WR Antonio Brown gone, Patriots WR Josh Gordon is stepping up today. He has made a pair of highlight-reel catches and has five grabs for 77 yards in the game.
(3:23PM) TD- Just as the Eagles had crept back in the game, Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed a 12-yard scoring pass to veteran WR Marvin Jones. Jones leads the Lions with a 5/83/1 line for the game.
(3:17PM) TD- Falcons TE Austin Hooper just hauled in his second score of the game, capping off a ten-minute drive and cutting the Colts lead down to just three. Hooper has 4/45/2 on the day.
(3:13PM) TD- The Eagles have scored again and closed the gap to just three points. QB Carson Wentz hit WR Nelson Agholor, who broke tackles on his way to a 20-yard score. Agholor has a 5/41/1 line for the game.
(3:11PM) TD- The Cowboys are finally starting to break away from the Dolphins as QB Dak Prescott ran for the eight-yard score, giving Dallas a 24-6 lead.
(3:06PM) TD- The Patriots continue to pile on the points as RB Rex Burkhead scored on a two-yard rush. Burkhead leads the team with 30 rushing yards in the game.
(3:02PM) TD- The Broncos are staying in the game against the Pack as RB Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman did much of the work. Lindsay finished off the drive with a one-yard score. He has 17 carries for 72 yards in the game along with three catches for 53 yards.
(2:58PM) INJURY- Colts WR T.Y. Hilton has been ruled out with a quad injury.
(2:55PM) TD- The Ravens are trying to hang in the game against the Chiefs and RB Mark Ingram just scored for the second time today. The Ravens gained all 75 yards on the drive via the run.
(2:54PM) TD- The Vikings have scored their third rushing touchdown of the game. This one comes from a leaping rookie RB Alexander Mattison, who flew into the end zone from around the five-yard line.
(2:52PM) TD- It's Amari time again! WR Amari Cooper caught his second touchdown pass of the day from QB Dak Prescott, this one good from 19 yards out. Dallas now leads the hapless Dolphins 17-6 and Cooper has a 5/70/2 line.
(2:48PM) TD- Yet another lost fumble by the Broncos gave Green Bay the ball in scoring position and they took advantage. RB Aaron Jones scored his second of the day despite his poor rushing line for the game. He has 13 rushing yards on seven carries.
(2:45PM) ESPN's Mike Clay noted that Patriots RB Sony Michel played just eight snaps in the first half. He continues to disappoint, even with the early touchdown.
(2:38PM) INJURY- The Patriots star receivers are both banged up. WR Julian Edelman is questionable to return with a rib injury whole WR Josh Gordon landed hard on a play late in the first half and was sent to the tent. Gordon is reportedly with the team at the beginning of the second half, but Edelman is not.
(2:35PM) With many games at the half, here are the top fantasy scorers of the day at each position...
(2:29PM) INJURY- The good news came for the Colts and WR T.Y. Hilton scored another short touchdown. The bad news was Hilton limped to the locker room after suffering an apparent leg injury.
(2:24PM) INJURY- Falcons S Keanu Neal suffered an knee injury and needed to be carted off as he sobbed. Neal missed much of the 2018 season with an injury. To add insult to injury, Neal was penalized for throwing his helmet in frustration.
(2:13PM) TD- Rookie WR Mecole Hardman had a long touchdown reception taken away last week due to a penalty, but he just made up for it. He caught a deep pass from QB Patrick Mahomes and then put on the afterburners, rolling for an 83-yard touchdown and a 21-6 Chiefs lead.
(2:01PM) INJURY- After being labeled as OUT earlier, Broncos RB Royce Freeman (shoulder) returned to the game. He even scored a touchdown, though it was called back due to a phantom hold.
(2:00PM) TD- It was only a matter of time...After the Ravens went for another fourth-down attempt in Chiefs territory, QB Patrick Mahomes hit red-hot WR Demarcus Robinson for an 18-yard touchdown, giving KC a 14-6 lead.
(1:56PM) TD- Minnesota added another score and it came on another rushing touchdown. This one did not belong to RB Dalvin Cook or even rookie RB Alexander Mattison. Instead, it was WR Adam Thielen, scoring for the second time of the day, this time on a short run. Minnesota leads 21-0 over Oakland.
(1:51PM) TD- There was some doubt about the status of veteran RB LeSean McCoy this week but he's off to a strong start for the Chiefs. McCoy has 19 total yards and scored to give his team a lead.
(1:45PM) TD- As expected, the Patriots are running away from the bruised and battered Jets. New England scored two quick touchdowns, both coming on passes from QB Tom Brady. First, he found WR Phillip Dorsett for a 25-yarder and then connected with WR Julian Edelman from three yards out. The Pats lead 20-0.
(1:43PM) TD- The Vikings are cooking as RB Dalvin Cook scored from a yard away to give Minnesota a 14-0 lead. Cook has 53 total yards already, along with the score.
(1:41PM) TD- The Lions gave up on veteran RB C.J. Anderson last week and now we should see plenty of RB Kerryon Johnson as the bell cow back. He just found the paint, scoring from one yard away and giving him 21 yards on seven carries.
(1:38PM) TD- The Broncos put together a long drive and ended it with RB Phillip Lindsay scampering in for a three-yard score. Lindsay had runs of eight and nine yards, keying the extended drive.
(1:36PM) TD- The Bills are on the board as QB Josh Allen hit rookie TE Dawson Knox for a one-yard score. The Bills went for two after a penalty, giving them an eight-point lead.
(1:30PM) INJURY- Falcons RB Ito Smith is on the sidelines and being evaluated for a concussion.
(1:26PM) TD- The Ravens know they have to take chances to steal a win in Kansas City. First, Baltimore went for it on fourth down, which was converted by QB Lamar Jackson. RB Mark Ingram finished off the drive with the easy score. The Ravens then went for a two-point conversion but were denied.
(1:25PM) BIG PLAY- After the earlier touchdown, WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been even more involved. He has three catches for 76 yards and a touchdown, giving him a new career-best 16.6 fantasy points.
(1:21PM) TD- And the Eagles quickly answered right back. The Eagles got great field position and QB Carson Wentz scrambled for 19 yards before RB Jordan Howard walked it into the end zone. The Eagles lead 10-7.
(1:15PM) TD- Patriots RB Sony Michel is turning into a player who must score a touchdown to really help fantasy players since he is not involved in the passing game. He delivered early, running it in from five yards out to give New England a 7-0 lead. RB James White is inactive today as his wife is expected to give birth to their child today.
(1:13PM) TD- After the Eagles took the early three-point lead, Detroit wasted no time taking a lead of their own. Jamal Agnew took the kickoff 101 yards for the return touchdown and a 7-3 lead over Philly.
(1:09PM) BIG PLAY- The Eagles are playing without WRs DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery today, so QB Carson Wentz will need to get creative. He did that by finding a wide-open RB Miles Sanders on the sideline for a 40-yard gain. The Eagles had to settle for a field goal on that opening drive.
(1:07PM) TD- the first score of the day comes on a free play for Green Bay after Denver jumped offsides. QB Aaron Rodgers aired it out and WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling grabbed it in the end zone for a 40-yard score.
(1:05PM) BIG PLAY- Eli Manning is not the only veteran who was benched this week. Miami sent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to the pine in favor of former Cardinals QB Josh Rosen. On the Dolphins first possession, Rosen found WR DeVante Parker for a deep for a 40-yard gain as Parker made a nifty one-handed grab.
