Week 6 Live Blog

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

Week 6 is here and the Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks are all on bye. I'll be updating injuries, big plays, and any big fantasy performances while filling in for Ryan this week!

(7:18) Wrapping up the live blog, The Steelers were able to hold on with some key defensive plays to hold on for a 19-to-13 victory over the Chiefs. Similarly, the Bucs comeback attempts were stifled, finishing with a 38-to-33 loss to the Cardinals. Chargers K Nick Novak kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired, with the Chargers picking up an elusive win in a one-score game.

(7:14) When it mattered most, QB Blake Bortles wasn't able to get the job done. Bortles completed 23-of-35 for 231 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the 27-17 loss to the Rams.

(7:10) WR Mike Evans continued the Bucs comeback with a 37-yard touchdown catch. The Bucs now only trail by 5 points with two minutes left.

(7:00) WR Antonio Brown scored a ridiculous touchdown after corraling a tipped ball in with one hand and sprinting away from the Chiefs secondary. Brown is up to 8-155-1 on 10 targets this Week, continuing his dominance as the WR1 in fantasy.

(6:58) The Bucs comeback attempts continued with a short rushing touchdown from RB Doug Martin. RB Jacquizz Rodgers got the first goal-line carry but was stopped short, giving fantasy players who started Martin a sigh of relief. After failing to convert the onside kick the Bucs trail 26 to 38.

(6:55) Raiders WR Cordarrelle Patterson exploded for a 47-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 16-14 lead. Patterson remains a limited gadget player.

(6:50) QB Alex Smith connected with WR De'Anthony Thomas for a 57-yard touchdown. The Chiefs are now down by two points with a little over six minutes left in the fourth quarter.

(6:48) Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette just suffered a non-contact injury and hobbled off the field. I will update his status as more is known.

(6:43) Chargers RB Melvin Gordon scored his second touchdown of the day. He's racked up yardage against the Raiders on the ground (18-58-0) and through the air (8-61-1).

(6:40) Cardinals RB Adrian Peterson looks to be an entirely different player this week. He's up to 130 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns. Despite looking washed through five weeks Peterson could be a solid fantasy starter going forward with a big workload on an average offense.

(6:27) The Bucs comeback continues, this time with a defensive score. WR Larry Fitzgerald was stripped and the fumble was returned for a touchdown. The Bucs converted the two-point conversion, now trailing 31-10.

(6:25) The Chiefs were one of the top offenses coming into Week 6, and currently have 25 total yards from scrimmage. No one predicted this nightmare outing for their offense, but there was significant reverse line movement for the Steelers on the spread.

(6:12) QB Ryan Fitzpatrick finally connected with WR Mike Evans for a 41 yard gain. Evans now has 2-58-0 on six targets. Fitzpatrick later passed for a 10-yard touchdown to TE Cam Brate. The Bucs are losing 12-31.

(6:05) RB Le'veon Bell is continuing to carve up the Chiefs with 119 rushing yards on 19 carries. Meanwhile, Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt has struggled to get anything going.

(5:51) The Bucs responded quickly with a long run by RB Doug Martin setting up a 4-yard touchdown pass to WR Desean Jackson. It was thrown well behind Jackson who did a good job adjusting for the touchdown. Fitzpatrick has been very inconsistent with his throws so far, missing multiple throws which should have been completed.

(5:44) The Cardinals slaughtering continues with a 17-yard touchdown pass from QB Carson Palmer to WR John Brown.  The Cardinals lead 31-0 and Jameis Winston is still on the sidelines. Carson Palmer is now 14-of-14 for 228 yards and three touchdowns.

(5:38) With the afternoon games approaching halftime, let's check in on the top fantasy scorers in Week 6

QB-  Kirk Cousins, Deshaun Watson, Carson Wentz

RB- Mark Ingram, Jerick McKinnon, Carlos Hyde

WR- Larry Fitzgerald, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones

TE- Rob Gronkowski, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Zach Ertz

(5:31) TE Hunter Henry was stopped just short of the goal line on 3rd down leading to a leaping goal-line touchdown by RB Melvin Gordon. The game is tied at 7 with two minutes left in the first half.

(5:26) The defensive/special teams touchdowns continue with the Rams blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown. The Rams lead 24-14 with 2:25 left in the first half.

(5:18) QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is surprisingly moving the ball well against the Cardinals defense. He has completed 6-of-11 passes for 52 yards going into halftime. They struggled in the red zone with Fitzpatrick throwing behind WR Mike Evans on what should have been a touchdown on fourth down.

(5:08) QB Jameis Winston is injured and doubtful to return with a shoulder injury. Down 24 points on the road, it seems unlikely Winston returns. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is their backup and now in the game.

(5:04) Steelers RB Le'veon Bell is gashing the Chiefs run defense so far, recording 64 yards and a touchdown on their latest drive. The Steelers lead 9-3 with 12 minutes left in the second quarter.

(4:57) With QB Derek Carr returning from injury, WR Michael Crabtree is a weekly threat to score a touchdown. This remained true this week as they scored on a 23-yard pass where Crabtree was able to maneuver his way into the end zone.

(4:48) The Rams and Jaguars have combined for 31 points in the 1st quarter with the Rams leading 17 to 14. Their most recent touchdown was a shovel pass to TE Gerald Everett for a four-yard score.

(4:45) WR Larry Fitzgerald is already up to 7-68-1 in the first half after an 11-yard touchdown. The Cardinals are dominating the Bucs early going up 21-0 with a little over 12 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

(4:36) This week seems to be driven by a lot of defensive scoring and that hasn't stopped going into the afternoon games. Pittsburgh recorded a safety to start the game and lead the Chiefs 2-0 in the 1st quarter.

(4:34)  The early games took a little longer than usual to finish, but the Patriots, Bears, Dolphins, Redskins, Texans, and Vikings all winning their games and the Saints leading by 14 with 3 minutes left.

(4:33) QB Mitchell Trubisky led the Bears to an overtime victory against the Ravens. Despite not producing much in the box score due to the Bears run-heavy approach, he made a few key throws on their game-winning drive.

(4:25) With the early games wrapping up, QB Kirk Cousins is currently the QB1 in fantasy with over 27 points. Mark Ingram is the RB1 with 28.9 fantasy points and Golden Tate still remains the WR1.

(4:19) The Saints have allowed the Lions to make it a close game despite blowing them out early. The Lions have caught up through special teams and defensive touchdowns. The Saints lead 45-38 with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

(4:13) After being traded from the Saints to the Cardinals, RB Adrian Peterson has gotten off to a great start with his new team. Peterson scored an early touchdown and is up to 54 yards on 4 carries.

(4:10) The Rams-Jaguars game has gotten off to an electrifying start with a kick return touchdown to open the game by the Rams. The Jaguars quickly responded with a 75-yard rushing touchdown by RB Leonard Fournette.

(4:03) After making a stop on defense, the Ravens returned the punt for a touchdown. The 2-Point conversion attempt was successful, tieing up the game at 24 with a minute and 37 seconds left. This will give rookie QB Mitchell Trubisky an opportunity to lead a game-winning drive.

(3:51) The Dolphins upset the Falcons 20-17 after a game-winning drive fell short. Matt Ryan was picked off after TE Austin Hooper juggled the pass. Despite opening the game up and leading by 17 points at halftime, they were unable to score a single point afterward. The Falcons don't look to be anywhere near as lethal after last seasons historically great offense.

(3:46) Jets TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins nearly had his second touchdown of the game, but it ended up being reversed and called a fumble and touchback giving the Patriots the ball. After punting the Patriots lead 24-14 still with 6:32 left in the fourth.

(3:41) Despite struggling on offense, the Bears lead 23-10 after a pick-six of QB Joe Flacco. The Bears continue to outperform expectations this season.

(3:29) Lions WR Marvin Jones made a highlight-reel, one-handed touchdown catch. Jones has 5-82-1 with 10 targets. There's still plenty of time for more garbage-time fantasy production from the Lions. So far, both the PPR WR1 and WR2 in fantasy are from the Lions with Golden Tate the WR1 and Jones the WR2.

(3:27) 49ers RB Carlos Hyde rushed for his second touchdown of the day, tying the game at 17 points. Beyond his two scores, Hyde has been very inefficient with only 23 yards on 11 carries.

(3:23) Browns CB Jason McCourty intercepted Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson for a touchdown. The Browns are still down 33-10 with the majority of the fourth quarter remaining.

(3:15) Saints TE Michael Hoomanawanui bolstered the Saints lead with a 2-yard touchdown. On the ensuing drive, QB Matt Stafford threw a pick-six. The Saints defense now has two defensive touchdowns and lead 45-10 with over half of the 3rd quarter left.

(3:11) The Dolphins are coming closer to upsetting the Falcons with a touchdown catch from WR Jarvis Landry. The Falcons now lead 17-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

(3:05) WR Deandre Hopkins scored a 3-yard touchdown on a pass from QB Deshaun Watson. He's up to 3 passing TD's on the day. Watson and the Texans have now scored over 30 points in four straight games.

(3:02) The Patriots offense looks like it has started to figure things out a bit, scoring again on a pass from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski. This is the second touchdown of the day from them. Gronkowski is up to 4-64-2.

(2:59) The Ravens instantly respond with a kick return touchdown after the returner ran into his own player, fell down, but was never touched and continued to run for the touchdown. The Bears still lead 17-10.

(2:56) QB Mitchell Trubisky threw his first touchdown of the game to TE Dion Sims for 27 yards. Trubisky rolled out and threw a high-arching pass which dropped into the arms of Sims in the end zone. Beyond the one touchdown, Trubisky is 4-10 with 74 yards against the stiff Ravens secondary.

(2:49) Dolphins QB Jay Cutler led the Dolphins on a long 8-minute touchdown drive to start the first half. He connected with Kenny Stills for 10 yards on the touchdown.

(2:38) The 49ers benched QB Brian Hoyer after a poor start, thrusting third-round pick C. J. Beathard into action. The change seems to have helped as the 49ers scored their first points of the game. Carlos Hyde rushed for a 1-yard touchdown putting him at 10 yards on 5 carries and a touchdown.

(2:33) QB Tom Brady orchestrated a late touchdown drive to end the first half after a Patriots interception. Brady connected with TE Rob Gronkowski on 2nd down after a failed attempt on 1st down. The game will go into halftime tied at 14.

(2:21) Saints RB Mark Ingram also scored his second touchdown of the day. The Saints have now scored 31 points in the first half and lead the Lions by 21. Ingram currently leads all players in PPR fantasy points with 21.2 so far.

(2:15) Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon scored his second touchdown of the day, this time on the ground. Mckinnon now has 30 yards rushing and 27 yards receiving with two touchdowns.

(2:10) Rookie RB D'Onta Foreman had a long run on a read-option play on 3rd and 1, setting the Texans up close to the end zone. They scored soon after with a shovel pass from QB Deshaun Watson to WR Braxton Miller. Watson connected with TE Ryan Griffin for the two-point conversion.

(2:05) The Bears continue their trickery this week with RB Tarik Cohen throwing a touchdown pass to TE Zach Miller. The Bears lead the Ravens 10-0.

(2:04) After a fumble from Patriots RB Mike Gillislee earlier in the game, Dion Lewis received the goal line carry and scored, putting the Patriots within a touchdown of the Jets.

(2:02) QB Brett Hundley is in for Aaron Rodgers and threw his first career touchdown pass to WR Davante Adams. Beyond his touchdown throw his only other attempted pass resulted in an interception.

(1:59) With RB Adrian Peterson traded to the Cardinals, RB Mark Ingram is making the most of his extra carries. After a goal-line touchdown, Ingram is up to 67 yards on nine carries.

(1:53) Rookie RB Samaje Perine scored his first career touchdown on a swing pass. Starting in place of Rob Kelley, Perine has an opportunity to lock in a bigger workload if he plays well. He currently has three carries for 11 yards along with 2 receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown.

(1:48) Browns QB Kevin Hogan threw an awful pick-6 in his first game starting this season. The Texans now lead 16-3 over the Browns with Kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn missing the extra point.

(1:47) A score by WR Jeremy Kerley puts the Jets up 14-0 against the New England Patriots. Kerley is absolutely dominating Malcolm Butler so far in this game.

(1:42)  SPARQ score dominator RB Jerick McKinnon scored a touchdown on a 27-yard screen pass. Thrust into a bigger role with Dalvin Cook out for the season, he is taking advantage of his opportunity.

(1:35) Texans WR Will Fuller continues to be a budding deep threat, adding a 39-yard score this Week. QB Deshaun Watson is now up to 102 yards passing with a touchdown.

(1:30) Marvin Hall, a receiver recently signed off the practice squad, scored a 40-yard touchdown. He burned the weak Dolphins secondary, getting wide open for the long score.

(1:26) The Saints-Lions game continues to rack up points early. A 51-yard run by RB Mark Ingram set up the 20-yard Tedd Ginn touchdown. Both offenses look to be clicking in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

(1:21) WR Golden Tate absolutely schooled multiple defensive backs and flipped into the end zone after a 45-yard catch and run. Despite some questionable tackling by the Saints secondary, Tate continues to be one of the premier YAC receivers in the NFL.

(1:18) QB Aaron Rodgers took a big hit on a rollout and is currently sidelined. Brett Hundley is currently in the game. Rodgers has been carted into the locker room, generally not a good sign for his availability the rest of the game. It is reported to be a throwing shoulder injury to Aaron Rodgers.

(1:14) A defensive touchdown opens up the scoring in the New Orleans - Detroit game. QB Matt Stafford was hit in the end zone, causing him to fumble where the Saints recovered.

(1:11) Jets TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins caught his second touchdown of the season on a pass to the corner. A 30-yard catch by WR Jeremy Kerley set up an early lead for the New York Jets.

(1:08) The first touchdown of the day goes to Redskins WR Josh Doctson. After two long catches by Samaje Perine and Chris Thompson set up this red zone visit the Redskins take a 7 point lead early in the first quarter.
