Week 9 Live Blog

Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

The games haven't even started yet and the football Sunday has already been wild. Two of the game's top stars, TE Zach Ertz and RB Leonard Fournette were surprisingly declared OUT, leaving fantasy owners to scramble for replacement. We'll be watching for how their respective replacements, TE Trey Burton and RBs T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory perform today.

(7:38PM) QB Russell Wilson's Hail Mary attempt fell just short and the Redskins escape with an impressive win over the streaking Seahawks and that will end another week of the Live Blog. Enjoy the final two games of the week and good lukck in all of your fantasy matchups.

(7:26PM) Redskins QB Kirk Cousins made some excellent throws and RB Rob Kelley finished the drive with his second touchdown of the day to give Washington the lead over Seattle with under one minute left.

(7:18PM) After struggling all day, QB Russell Wilson caught fire in the fourth quarter and completed a pair of passes to wide open players, TE Jimmy Graham and then WR Doug Baldwin for a touchdown. Seattle now leads 14-10 with under two minutes remaining. Wilson has 260 passing yards and two scores, while Baldwin now has a 7/108/1 line.

(7:09PM) After the dust was settled following the fight between the Cardinals and 49ers, penalites were handed out and San Francisco RB Carlos Hyde was ejected. Hyde finishes with 125 scoreless yards.

(7:05PM) The bad news is I missed an earlier touchdown from 49ers QB CJ Beathard. The good news is none of you started Beathard anyway. The Cardinals lead 17-10 and Beathard just took a nasty late hit which ignighted yet another brawl, the third in the NFL today.

(6:53PM) With star WR Dez Bryant out of the lineup after being banged up with an apprarent leg injury, QB Dak Prescott hit WR Cole Beasley for his second touchdown catch of the day, extending the Dallas lead to 28-17 midway through the fourth quarter. Bryant has a 6/73 line, while Beasley is up to 4/24/2.

(6:51PM) Following review, the Seahawks touchdown was reversed as QB Kirk Cousins was ruled down. So, he took the sack, but no fumble or score. The Skins are punting to Seattle.

(6:49PM) That turnaround didn't take long. The Seattle defense swarmed Redskins QB Kirk Cousins and then sacked, forced fumble, recovered and returned for a touchdown. The play is under review, but if it stands, the Seahawks have the lead.

(6:45PM) The Seahawks offense finally work up as QB Russell Wilson ended a productive drive with a ten-yard touchdown pass to TE Luke Willson. Seattle, down 10-8 after the score, went for two, but Wilson's pass was intercepted and nearly returned by Washington. Wilson has just 193 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

(6:30PM) The Cowboys have regained the lead in one of the better games of the day. Dallas finished off an extended drive with a short rushing score from RB Ezekiel Elliott, who has 70 rushing yards in the game.

(6:28PM) Let's check in on the late games...the Cardinals continue to lead the 49ers, 14-10. Veteran RB Adrian Peterson has 107 rushing yards, while WR Larry Fitzgerald has posted a 5/70 line. With WR Pierre Garcon out for the season, RB Carlos Hyde is the top option in the 49ers offense and has 95 scoreless yards on the day.

(6:14PM) After halftime, the Chiefs comeback is complete as they now lead in Dallas. Kansas City opened the second session with a long drive resulting in a short touchdown pass to TE Travis Kelce, who then won a potato sack race as a celebration. KC now leads 17-14.

(5:50PM) The Chiefs ended the half in the right way as QB Alex Smith hit WR Tyreek Hill for a short pass and TyFreak did the rest, juking anf jiving for a 57-yard score to close the gap to just four points. That was Hill's first reception of the game.

(5:45PM) The Cowboys are intent on continuing the Chiefs losing streak and they lead 14-3 as halftime approaches. QB Dak Prescott put up the latest points for Dallas, rushing for a 10-yard touchdown. Most of the stars of this game are letting down fantasy players. RB Kareem Hunt has 23 yards on nine touches, TE Travis Kelce has a 2/35 line. RB Ezekiel Elliott, potentially playing in his final game before his suspension kicks in, has only 39 rushing yards at the half. WR Dez Bryant has four catches for 47 yards.

(5:30PM) Finally, the top scoring fantasy TEs of the week...

TE1- Evan Engram

TE2- Jack Doyle

TE3- Trey Burton

TE4- Delanie Walker

TE5- Ben Watson

(5:20PM) Next up, the top fantasy WRs for the day, up to this point...

WR1- TY Hilton

WR2- Alshon Jeffery

WR3- Robert Woods

WR4- Marqise Lee

WR5- Deonte Thompson

(5:17PM) In one of the low-scoring afternoon games, the Redskins lead the Seahawks 7-2 after a touchdown from bruising RB Rob Kelley. Fat Rob took it one yard for the go-ahead score and he has just six yards on eight carries today. TE Vernon Davis, with start Jordan Reed out of the lineup, has been the key target for QB Kirk Cousins today. Davis already has four receptions for 59 yards.

(5:03PM) Seattle HC Pete Carroll sounded like he'd lean heavily on veteran RB Eddie Lacy this week but that won't happen now. Lacy had to leave the game with a groin injury and he is doubtful to return. RBs Thomas Rawls and JD McKissic should see some increased touches moving forward.

(5:00PM) The top fantasy RBs of the week, so far, are...

RB1- Alvin Kamara

RB2- Corey Clement

RB3- Matt Forte

RB4- Todd Gurley

RB5- Christian McCaffrey

(4:59PM) Cardinals QB Drew Stanton just threw his second touchdown of the day, hitting TE Jermaine Gresham for the score. Even with veteran QB Carson Palmer out of the lineup, the Cards are handling the 49ers 14-3.

(4:53PM) The late games have been quiet, but the Cowboys finally broke through with a touchdown as QB Dak Prescott found a streaking WR Cole Beasley for the score. Dallas leads the Chiefs 7-0.

(4:33PM) As always, the action is slowing down with just three late games today. Let's have a look at the top five fantasy scorers from each position up until the point, beginning with the QBs.

QB1- Jared Goff

QB2- Tyrod Taylor

QB3- Carson Wentz

QB4- Cam Newton

QB5- Jacoby Brissett

(4:27PM) Some bad news for the 49ers...rookie TE George Kittle has suffered a leg injury and is out of the game. More on his status as it is reported.

(4:17PM) The Cardinals have taken the early lead of San Francisco on a touchdown pass from QB Drew Stanton to WR Jaron Brown. WR John Brown had a 52-yard reception that fueled the drive.

(4:15PM) Finals from the early games...

Carolina 20, Atlanta 17

Jacksonville 23, Cincinnati 7

LA Rams 51, NY Giants 17

New Orleans 30, Tampa Bay 10

Tennessee 23, Baltimore 20

Indianapolis 20, Houston 14

(4:05PM) The Ravens are within three points after a touchdown from QB Joe Flacco to WR Mike Wallace. The Ravens are sure to attempt an onside kick trailing by three with under one minute remaining.

(4:03PM) If you somehow used Eagles rookie RB Corey Clement in your fantasy lineups today, you've now been rewarded with three touchdowns. Clement just scored on a four-yard rush that followed a 35-yard reception by WR Nelson Agholor from backup QB Nick Foles. The Eagles lead 51-23.

(3:52PM) The Eagles, like the Rams, inserted their backup QB into the game and QB Nick Foles immediately turned the ball over as LB Brandon Marshall recovered and returned the Foles' fumble after he was sacked. Denver still trails 44-23 late in the game.

(3:51PM) From the "that helped no one" category, Tampa Bay scored on a touchdown connection between backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick and third string TE Luke Stocker. The Bucs trail 30-10.

(3:49PM) QB Marcus Mariota and the Titans answered the Ravens score, marching down and finding WR Eric Decker for an 11-yard touchdown. Decker has three receptions for 21 yards on the day, while Mariota has 218 yards and a pair of scores.

(3:48PM) It took half the season, but WR Demaryius Thomas finally scored a touchdown, catching a one-yarder from QB Brock Osweiler as the Broncos are getting blown out by the Eagles. DT has a 7/64/1 line.

(3:46PM) It's been a rough day for the Texans offense as they move back to Week One starting QB Tom Savage, but the replacement for rookie QB Deshaun Watson did just find WR DeAndre Hopkins for a 34-yard score. That gives Hopkins a 5/76/1 line for the day.

(3:44PM) The Rams are taking the foot off the gas, sitting starting QB Jared Goff and bringing in backup Sean Mannion as they lead 48-17 in the fourth quarter.

(3:40PM) Garbage time delivers again! With the Giants down big, QB Eli Manning found his top target, rookie TE Evan Engram, for a 10-yard score. Engram has a 4/70/1 line on the day. WR Sterling Shepard has returned to the field and leads the team in receiving with 70 yards on five catches.

(3:39PM) Ravens RB Buck Allen was looking like a bust, too, until he caught a three-yard touchdown pass from QB Joe Flacco. He now has 33 total yards on the day.

(3:31PM) Many of the early games are now into the fourth quarter. There is still some time to put up numbers, but here are some of the fantasy "duds" of the day...

RB Tevin Coleman, five rushing yards

WR DeAndre Hopkins, 3/30

WR Will Fuller, 1/29

RB Lamar Miller, 51 total yards

WR Corey Davis, 2/28

RB DeMarco Murray, 14 total yards (injured)

RB CJ Anderson, 13 rushing yards (injured)

WR Emmanuel Sanders, 1/30

WR Nelson Agholor, 1/1

WR DeSean Jackson, 2/25

WR Mike Evans, 1/13

TE Cameron Brate, 1/9

WR AJ Green, 1/6 (ejected)

(3:28PM) The Eagles are piling on as QB Carson Wentz connected with WR Alshon Jeffery for his second score of the day. Wentz now has a 199/4/0 line on the day, while Jeffery has six receptions for 84 yards and the two touchdowns.

(3:21PM) If you were relying on "Sacksonville" today in your fantasy leagues, you just got bailed out with a punt return touchdown, adding to the Jags lead, now 23-7 over the Bengals.

(3:17PM) It had to be reviewed, but a long 80-yard score to WR TY Hilton stood and gave the Colts a 17-7 lead. Hilton appeared to be tackled around the 25-yard line, but got up and ran into the end zone and the play was ruled a touchdown. Hilton has 175 yards on five receptions today.

(3:16PM) A blocked punt put the Rams back in the red zone and they capitalized with a touchdown run from RB Todd Gurley, his second of the day. Pending the extra point, the Rams will lead 48-10 over the Giants.

(3:10PM) A pair of blowouts just got even worse. Eagles rookie RB Corey Clement scored his second touchdown of the day, this time rushing for for the two-yarder. The Eagles lead 38-9 over Denver. Meanwhile, the Rams added to their lead as QB Jared Goff hit WR Robert Woods for the second time today, this time for just four yards. The Rams are up 41-10 over the Giants. Goff has 302 passing yards and four scores.

(3:03PM) What is going on in the NFL today? After QB Jameis Winston, from the sidelines, and Saints DB Marshon Lattimore exchanged words, WR Mike Evans blindsided Lattimore from behind. Somehow, Evans was not ejected. Winston also came off the bench during the skirmish, opening himself up to further penalty from the league.

(2:57PM) The Saints are blasting the Bucs. After a fumble by rookie TE OJ Howard, the Saints struck quickly with QB Drew Brees hitting WR Ted Ginn, sliding in the end zone to make the 36-yard scoring grab. The Saints lead 30-3. Bress is up to 230 passing yards and a pair of scores, while Ginn has a 4/59/1 line.

(2:54PM) Rams RB Todd Gurley added to his team's lead, pushing the ball across the line for a one-yard score. Gurley has 58 total yards on the day, but has not been involved in the passing game since the Giants defense hasn't even been covering his WR and TE teammates. Look for Gurley to see plenty of carries as the Rams lead 34-10.

(2:50PM) Saints rookie RB Alvin Kamara has done it again, extending the New Orleans lead over a bruised and battered Bucs team. Kamara ran up the middle for a six-yard score, his second of the day. Kamara now has 124 total yards along with the two scores.

(2:44PM) With games at halftime, here are the top PPR fantasy performers from today's games:

QB- Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Cam Newton

RB- Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffrey, Jay Ajayi

WR- Rishard Matthews, Alshon Jeffery, TY Hilton

TE- Trey Burton, Tyler Kroft, Evan Engram

(2:41PM) Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston has been dealing with a shoulder injury for weeks now and as the team returns from halftime, Winston is on the bench with veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the game. The Bucs offense didn't get much going in the first-half. Winston has been tabbed as questionable to return, but don't expect to see him again this week.

(2:36PM) The inactives are starting to roll in for the late-afternoon games. Seattle RB CJ Prosise is inactive, leaving the backfield to some combination of Eddie Lacy, Thomas Rawls and JD McKissic

(2:34PM) There were mixed reports about how, or even if, the Eagles would use their newly acquired RB Jay Ajayi today. It was expected he would only see limited touches, but maybe that's all he needs. Ajayi broke free for a 46-yard touchdown, his first of the season. Ajayi has five carries for 69 yards and the score.

(2:30PM) As haltime nears, the Texans are on the board, no thanks to QB Tom Savage. The Texans defense sacked QB Jacoby Brissett, who lost the ball, leading the Houston defensive score. Indy leads 10-7 and Savage has completed just seven of 19 pass attempts for 76 yards.

(2:24PM) Major news from the Bengals/Jaguars game, which has been chippy all day. After evidently exchanging words, Bengals WR AJ Green attacked Jags DB Jalen Ramsey, throwing multiple punches, which ignited a huge brawl. Both players were ejected and could face further discipline.

(2:21PM) After the Panthers last score, the Falcons were pushing the pace, opening the drive with a 26-yard strike from QB Matt Ryan to WR Julio Jones. On the next play though, Ryan was intercepted and the Panthers are now threatening to score again, still leaning on the rookie RB Christian McCaffrey, who has 38 total yards. QB Cam Newton apparently broke the plane as he went full Superman mode, but this one will be reviewed.

(2:18PM) The earlier fumble evidently didn't have an impact on rookie RB Alvin Kamara, who just caught a short pass from QB Drew Brees, ran over and through the defense for a 33-yard touchdown. Kamara is up to 101 total yards in the game and leads the team in receiving as halftime approaches.

(2:16PM) The Panthers are on the board after leaning on rookie RB Christian McCaffrey in the latest drive. Run CMC finished it off with a four-yard rush up the middle for the score, cutting the Falcons lead to 10-7. McCaffrey now has 16 total yards in the game.

(2:13PM) Eagles TE Trey Burton was a spotlight player after the injury to starter Zach Ertz and the understudy has delivered. He's already seen three red zone targets and he hauled in the last one, upon furth review, for a touchdown. QB Carson Wentz now has 152 yards and three touchdown in the first half.

(2:02PM) It only happens about once a month, but today is a Sammy day. Rams QB Jared Goff just let loose and threw one deep as WR Sammy Watkins ran under it for a 67-yard score. That's Watkins first catch of the day and the Rams are waxing the Giants, 24-7 midway through the second quarter.

(1:59PM) A pre-game injury to backup RB Jeremy Hill opened up even more touches for rookie starter Joe Mixon and he just found the end zone, diving across the goal line for the two-yard score. Mixon has 31 total yards late in the second quarter.

(1:56PM) Last week, the Saints benched RB Mark Ingram after a pair of fumbles and now rookie RB Alvin Kamara just lost one himself. So far today, Ingram has 21 rushing yards, while Kamara has 34 total yards.

(1:53PM) On a desperation 3rd & 33 play, Rams QB Jared Goff hit WR Robert Woods who weaved his way through the defense all the way for a 62-yard touchdown. The Rams lead 17-7 on Woods first reception of the game. Goff has 138 passing yards and two touchdowns midway through the second quarter.

(1:51PM) Jaguars WR Marqise Lee has enjoyed a relatively productive season, considering the low passing volume of that offense. He hadn't scored a touchdown on the season yet, though, but just changed that as he caught a three-yarder from QB Blake Bortles, who already has 170 passing yards in the game.

(1:45PM) The Eagles wastned no time in adding to their lead after the turnover. QB Carson Wentz his rookie RB Corey Clement for a short pass up the middle and he took it in for the 15-yard score. Philadelphia lead 17-3. Wentz has 96 yards and a pair of scores.

(1:44PM) Another star WR who has been in and out of the lineup is Tampa's Mike Evans, who left the field and needed assistance from the medical staff, but then returned to the field.

(1:42PM) No surprise here at all, but Eagles DB Patrick Robinson just picked off Denver QB Brock Osweiler and Philly is now in the red zone, already leading 10-3.

(1:40PM) It's good news and bad news for the Panthers. QB Cam Newton, who has been running more in recent weeks, broke off a 34-yard scamper, giving him 51 rushing yards in the game. On the next play though, RB Jonathan Stewart lost his second fumble of the game. Expect to see more of Christian McCaffrey and Cameron Artis-Payne

(1:35PM) The Titans just found the end zone for the first time today on a 16-yard hook up between QB Marcus Mariota and WR Rishard Matthews. Rookie WR Corey Davis, playing for the first time in week, had a big 23-yard reception keying that drive.

(1:33PM) Based on the defensive matchups, it looked like a big day for Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu and he just hit paydirt, scoring a short touchdown on a pass from QB Matt Ryan. Sanu has three receptions for 23 yards and the score.

(1:30PM) Stop me if you've heard this one...Falcons WR Julio Jones just limped off to the sidelines after getting banged up. He did quickly return to the field, but this will be something to watch the remainder of the game.

(1:28PM) Broncos RB CJ Anderson was just stopped in the backfield for a short loss and also suffered a leg injury when his leg apparently benth underneath him. Backups Jamaal Charles and Devontae Booker could see additional playing time if Anderson misses time.

(1:25PM) It did not look like a good spot for the Giants and QB Eli Manning this week, but Manning just connected with WR Tavarres King for the game-tying touchdown. King has two grabs for 19 yards in the game. RB Orleans Darkwa has 48 rushing yards already, thanks to a nice 24-yarder.

(1:21PM) The Eagles aren't letting the Broncos strong defense slow them down. QB Carson Wentz just lobbed a short pass to WR Alshon Jeffery who cruised into the end zone for a 32-yard score. Philly leads 7-3 on Jeffery's first reception of the game.

(1:18PM) It didn't take long for the Saints special teams/defense to pay off. With the Buccaneers buried in their own territory, the Saints blocked a punt and returned it for the touchdown. The Bucs did some blocking of their own on the extra point attempt, leaving the game at 9-0 in the Saints favor.

(1:15PM) Colts WR TY Hilton has been a boom or bust player all season long, but he's on today. The Colts have taken an early lead on Houston after a 45-yard bomb from QB Jacoby Brissett to Hilton. That gives Hilton more FF points on his first reception than he's had the past two games combined.

(1:11PM) Facing the Giants suddenly struggling defense, Rams RB Todd Gurley is in for a big day. He just broke his longest run of the season, a 36-yarder. Gurley has 44 rushing yards on three carries and the Rams are on the board as QB Jared Goff hit TE Tyler Higbee for the eight-yard touchdown. The Giants continue to give up major FF points to the TE position.

(1:09PM) The Jaguars surprisingly deactivated their star RB Leonard Fournette and both TJ Yeldon and Chris Ivory should see touches today. Yeldon might see fewer than planned though after he just lost a fumble to the Bengals defense on his first carry of the game.

(1:08PM) The Falcons are working to get superstar WR Julio Jones involved early as QB Matt Ryan hit Jones for a 34-yarder. Jones followed that up with an end zone target that was just overthrown and the Falcons settled for a field goal to take an early lead over Carolina.

(1:04PM) Another big story of Week Nine is the multitude of backup QBs playing. As we all know by now, Texans rookie QB Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL this week in practice, ending his season. The Texans will turn back to QB Tom Savage to replace him. QB Brock Osweiler returns as the starter for the Broncos, his original NFL team, pushing QB Trevor Siemian to the bench, while veteran backup QB Drew Stanton steps in for an injured Carson Palmer. Rookie CJ Beathard remains the starter despite the 49ers trade for former Patriot Jimmy Garoppolo
