Evgenii Dadonov is owned in 29% of Yahoo leagues, which is a modest increase from 23% when he was featured on Waiver Wired last week. He tallied a hat trick on Saturday and has seven goals, with 10 points, in his last seven outings. Nico Hischier is still available in 67% of Yahoo leagues. He has been held off the scoresheet once in the last eight games. Bryan Rust went from an 11% ownership last week when he appeared on Waiver Wired to 28%.

Is anyone else surprised that Matt Duchene is owned in only 47% of Yahoo leagues?

Now, let’s go into this week’s recommendations:

Derick Brassard (PIT) - C - Owned in 38% of Yahoo leagues

Brassard has scored six goals and added four assists in the last nine games. His next appearance will come with the Pittsburgh Penguins after he was acquired from Ottawa. Brassard could get a chance to play between Jake Guentzel and Phil Kessel on the third line. He could also see action on the second power-play unit. There's a chance his fantasy value coud take a slight hit with the Penguins in what could be a slightly reduced role, but there is plenty of upside there as well and the opportunity to see easier matchups.

Jeff Petry (MTL) - D - Owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues

Petry has two goals and two assists over a four-game point streak. The Canadiens defender has been red hot this month with five markers and eight points in 11 games. He also only has a minus-2 rating during that time and a minus-4 rating in his past 22 outings, so don’t let his overall minus-26 rating scare you away. Petry has been great on the power play with Montreal missing Shea Weber. He has contributed 16 of his career-high 30 points on the man advantage.

Craig Smith (NSH) - RW - Owned in 27% of Yahoo leagues

Smith is riding a six-game point streak going into Sunday afternoon’s matchup against St. Louis. He has contributed two goals and four assists during that time. Smith has chipped in two power-play points (one goal, one assist) during his scoring spree. He is two goals away from his fourth 20-goal season. Kevin Fiala, who is owned in 28% of Yahoo leagues, hasn’t been as hot of late, but he is the better pickup if you are looking for goals.

Kyle Connor (WPG) - LW - Owned in 23% of Yahoo leagues

Connor is back on Winnipeg’s top line alongside Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele. He has three goals and one assist in four games since being reunited with the top-two players on the Jets. Connor has collected seven goals and four helpers in the last 12 contests. He is tied for second among rookies with 22 goals and ranks sixth with 40 points through 56 games.

Sami Vatanen (NJD) - D - Owned in 21% of Yahoo leagues

Vatanen has accumulated nine assists and 21 shots on goal in 13 games this month. That includes eight helpers in the past eight matches. Goals have been hard to come by for Vatanen for a while now, but he still has value if you are seeking assists, blocks, hits and shots.

Pierre-Luc Dubois (CBJ) - C, LW - Owned in 17% of Yahoo leagues

Dubois has heated up again with nine points in 12 games this month. The top-line center of the Blue Jackets has four goals and five assists in his last 11 outings. Columbus has four games on tap for this coming week, so Dubois will get plenty of opportunities to keep him his recent hot streak going.

Nolan Patrick (PHI) - C - Owned in 9% of Yahoo leagues

Patrick stretched his career-high point streak to five straight games on Saturday with a goal against Ottawa. The rookie center has found the back of the net in four consecutive contests and he has added an assist as well. Patrick amassed nine shots on target versus the Senators and he has potted a pair of power-play goals during his recent scoring surge while seeing time on the top unit. He has been skating on the second line with Jakub Voracek during even-strength action.

Sven Baertschi (VAN) - LW - Owned in 3% of Yahoo leagues

Last week, Bo Horvat was featured on Waiver Wired and Brock Boeser has received plenty of attention this season. It’s time to give the third member of the Canucks’ best line some love.  Baertschi has generated two goals and three assists over a four-game point streak. He has seven points in the last seven contests and he’s poised to end the regular season on a high note.

Ryan Carpenter (VGK) - C - Owned in 2% of Yahoo leagues

Carpenter makes for an under-the-radar option if you are in a deeper league with limited players available. He has been firing on all cylinders from Vegas’ third line with four goals and three assists in his last six games. Carpenter has generated six goals and 10 points in 10 contests. The Golden Knights have provided fantasy owners with great waiver wire pickups this season and Carpenter could be another to add to the list.

Tobias Rieder (LAK) - LW, RW - Owned in 1% of Yahoo leagues

Rieder got his first goal with Los Angeles on Saturday night following his acquisition from Arizona. He accounted for six shots in the contest and looked dangerous on a line with Anze Kopitar. Rieder had been playing well with the Coyotes prior to the trade with two goals and three assists in four games. He will get a significant boost if he continues to play with Kopitar and Dustin Brown.
