Wrap-up: Richmond Raceway

Richmond Raceway (RR) was the venue for two top-level NASCAR series short-track night races this past weekend. On Friday night, the XFINITY Series 250-lap ToyotaCare 250 was featured on the 0.75-mile oval in Virginia. On Saturday night, the CUP drivers competed for 400 laps in the Toyota Owners 400. The Gander Outdoors Truck Series will return to action on May 3 for the JEGS 200 at Dover Int’l Speedway in Delaware. The results and upcoming scheduled events for the NASCAR Home Tracks and other series are also shown below.

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (CUP)
QUALIFYING: Kevin Harvick (No. 4 Ford Mustang) won the Busch Pole Award for the Toyota Owners 400 with a lap of 124.298 mph. This is his 27th pole in 655 CUP races. It is his second pole and sixth top-10 start in 2019 and his third pole in 37 races at Richmond Erik Jones (second) posted his third top-10 start of 2019 and his fourth in five races at RR. Kurt Busch (third) scored his 14th top-10 RR start and his second in nine races this season. Matt Tifft (20th) was the fastest qualifying Sunoco Rookie of the Year (ROTY) contender.

Did not qualify: No one. 37 cars entered for 40 spots in the lineup.

RESULTS: Martin Truex Jr. (No. 19 Toyota Camry) won the Toyota Owners 400, his 20th victory in 486 CUP races. This is his first victory and sixth top-10 finish in 2019. It is his first victory and 10th top-10 finish in 27 races at RR. Joey Logano (second) posted his 12th top-10 finish in 21 RR races and sixth top-10 finish in 2019. Clint Bowyer (third) scored his 15th top-10 finish in 27 races at RR. Daniel Hemric (19th) was the highest finishing ROTY. Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick led 30 laps and finished the 400-lap race in fourth place.

Standings: Kyle Busch leads the point standings by 20 points over Joey Logano.

NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS)
QUALIFYING: Cancelled due to rain. The starting lineup was set based on the team owner's current point standings. That set up the front row with Riley Herbst (No. 18 Toyota) at P1 and Tyler Reddick (No. 2 Camaro) at P2. The second row had Christopher Bell (No. 20 Toyota) at P3 and Cole Custer (No. 00 Ford) at P4.

Did not qualify: No. 92 Josh Williams and No. 89 Morgan Shepherd. Shepherd would have started 38th based on his owner points. Since Kaz Grala (No. 21 Chevrolet) is running a limited schedule, Shepherd withdrew his car to allow Grala to take over the final spot in the lineup.

RESULTS: Cole Custer (No. 00 Ford Mustang) won the ToyotaCare 250, his fourth victory in 79 NXS races. This is his second victory and sixth top-10 finish in 2019. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in six races at RR. Austin Cindric (second) posted his second top-10 finish in three RR races and his sixth top-10 finish in 2019. Justin Allgaier (third) scored his seventh top-10 finish in 17 races at RR. John Hunter Nemechek (seventh) was the highest finishing ROTY.

Standings: Tyler Reddick leads the point standings by 24 points over Christopher Bell.
