Ondrej Kase scored his first career goal in the Ducks 3-1 win over Vancouver on Thursday.

The goal was an ugly one but they all count. This one counted even more as it turned out to be the game winner. Kase banked the puck in off two Canucks from behind the goal-line and past Ryan Miller. The goal gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead. Kase played over 15 minutes of ice-time, the most in single game in his career. He has three points in eight games. Jakob Silfverberg opened the scoring and Andrew Cogliano got the insurance marker late to seal the win.

Philipp Grubauer will get the nod for Colorado on Saturday.

Grubauer is making his second straight start after stopping 27 of 30 shots in a 5-3 win over New Jersey Thursday night. Grubauer is 1-1-0 with a 3.53 GAA and .891 save percentage in two contests.

Alex Tuch has signed a seven-year, $33.25 million contract extension.

That translates to a $4.75 million annual cap hit. The Golden Knights are taking a risk here given that Tuch only has 84 games on his resume and it's not like he's set the world on fire with his 15 goals and 37 points over that span. Tuch does have enough upside that this could end up being a nice signing for Las Vegas though. He hasn't been able to play yet this season due to a lower-body injury.
Oct 19 - 5:55 PM

Christian Dvorak has undergone surgery for a torn pectoral muscle.

Dvorak began the season on the injured reserve list due to a lower-body injury. He had been working his way back from it when he sustained a setback last week. Now we know what that setback was and the news is about as bad as it could have been. Dvorak's out indefinitely. He had 15 goals and 37 points in 78 contests as a sophomore last season.
Oct 19 - 5:27 PM

Laurent Brossoit will play between the pipes on Saturday versus Arizona.

It will be Brossoit's first start since he faced Carolina on Sunday. He turned aside 42 of 43 shots in that contest to lift Winnipeg to a 3-1 win.
Oct 19 - 2:42 PM

Cory Schneider (hip) will report to AHL Binghamton on a conditioning stint.

Schneider has been taken off the non-roster injured reserve list to make that happen. He hasn't played yet this season, so he'll shake off the rust in the minors before making his Devils debut. It's not clear how long the Devils intend to keep him in the minors.
Oct 19 - 1:52 PM

Alexander Radulov is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Radulov is doubtful for Friday's game, but a final determination will be made around game-time. Roope Hintz would play on the top line if Radulov isn't available and that would naturally be a great opportunity for the rookie.
Oct 19 - 12:52 PM

Vladimir Tarasenko skated alongside Jaden Schwartz and Brayden Schenn at Thursday's practice.

The trio enjoyed plenty of success together early in the 2017-18 campaign before Schwartz went down due to injury. Tarasenko, who has two goals and five points through six games, had been seeing most of his playing time with Ryan O'Reilly, who was shifted to a combination with Zach Sanford and David Perron.
Oct 19 - 11:38 AM

Matt Read skated alongside Eric Staal and Jason Zucker at Thursday's practice.

Read went from playing in the minors to the top line of Minnesota. "I thought he'd be fine with them," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "He's a right-hand shot and we needed that. And I wanted to get Nino (Niederreiter) back on the left side. That was pretty much the thought process there." The trio is projected to be together for Friday's match versus Dallas.
Oct 19 - 11:28 AM

Carter Hutton allowed four goals on 38 shots in a 5-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks Thursday night.

Hutton was powerless against the Sharks Thursday, allowing four goals before San Jose added an empty-netter. Hutton has now lost his last three starts for Buffalo, with his record falling to 2-4-0 with a 3.27 GAA and a .906 save percentage.
Oct 19 - 1:56 AM

Martin Jones allowed just one goal on 25 shots in a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres Thursday night.

Fortunately for Jones, the goaltender got a ton of offensive help against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, mostly from Logan Couture. Jones now has his second win of the season, improving his record to 2-3-0. His GAA is now 2.63 and his save percentage is .896.
Oct 19 - 1:56 AM

Robin Lehner made 28 saves in a 7-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night, but the Islanders pulled him in the third period after he took a puck to his mask.

Islanders head coach Barry Trotz wouldn't divulge whether or not Lehner went through the concussion protocol and couldn't provide an update on his Swedish netminder, who otherwise did well thanks to the offensive support in front of him. Lehner's record improves to 2-1-0 with a 2.10 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
