Tony Gonsolin is now starting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS
Jose Urquidy - Houston Astros (vs. Tampa Bay Rays) DK: $7100 FD: $7700
My pitching play of the day. To be clear I am calling a Houston win today. The Houston Astros are currently sitting at -103 with an 8.5 O/U. Urquidy has played well as of late. Yes, his start against Oakland was ugly but his two starts prior to that we’re fine against the Minnesota Twins and the Texas Rangers. Urquidy is averaging 12.0 DK points over his last 10 games allowing opposing batters to hit just .205. These numbers don’t blow me away but as a pivot play on a two game slate, the cheapest SP on the slate is in play! The Astros are my top stack of the day and I am projecting a win for Houston and their SP Jose Urquidy.
Other SP Option: Tony Gonsolin - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Atlanta Braves)
Martin Maldonado - Houston Astros (vs. Ryan Yarbrough) DK: $3800 FD: $2700 *NOT STARTING*
Dustin Garneau is starting at catcher for the Houston Astros
Maldonado is batting just .125 over his last 10 games (34 at bats). Houston’s veteran catcher is 0 for 4 against opposing SP Ryan Yarbrough. So, why do I like him tonight? Despite his current struggles, he always has home run potential. In 2020 Yarbrough allowed five total home runs, 80 % of which were off opposing righties. At low salaries and low roster percentages, this is a GPP play only.
Other C Option: Will Smith - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Ian Anderson)
Yuli Gurriel - Houston Astros (vs. Ryan Yarbrough) DK: $3100 FD: $2700
Gurriel has one home run in two at bats against Yarbrough. Houston’s first baseman is batting .290 so far this season against opposing left-handed pitchers. As mentioned above, In 2020 Yarbrough allowed five total home runs, 80 % of which were off opposing righties. The back end of Houston’s lineup is filled with hard hitting right-handed batters including Carlos Correa and the aforementioned Maldonado and Yuli Gurriel. The Astros are slight underdogs at the moment with an 8.5 O/U.
Jose Altuve - Houston Astros (vs. Ryan Yarbrough) DK: $4900 FD: $3500
Altuve is currently 3 for 7 against Yarbrough. Nothing to call home about, right? But when combine this with Gurriel’s homer in two at bats and Bregman’s .347 BA against Yarbourgh, we start to see numbers that indicate an Astros advantage. I look forward to monitoring the movement of this line up until lock. It should tell us a lot. Altuve is currently averaging 11.8 DK points over his last 10 games.
Alex Bregman - Houston Astros (vs. Ryan Yarbough) DK: $4800 FD: $3800
Bregman is musy play if investing in a Houston stack. The Astros clean up man is batting .347 against Yarbourgh in seven at bats. He currently has three multi-hit games over his last four games. He's batting .292 over his last 10 outings. Bregman is my top batter of day and highest owned investment in my player pool.
Carlos Correa - Houston Astros (vs. Ryan Yarbough) DK: $4400 FD: $3500
Correra homered in Houston’s last game and is batting .441 over his last 10 games. He’s currently averaging 13.4 DK points over his last 10 games. With 30 points in their last game on 10/8, I think it’s safe to say that Correa is dialed in. He now has two 30+ point efforts this postseason.
Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Ian Anderson)
I left this for the end purposely. The Dodgers set to face a red-hot Ian Anderson. Anderson has held opposing lefties and righties to a sub .200 batting average in 2020. In the playoffs he’s even more impressive, dominating Tampa and Cincinnati for an average of 33.75 DK points. Most will flock towards Anderson tonight but not us! On a two game slate we’re going to fade Anderson and invest in the Dodgers. Baseball stats always return to the norm . This is the perfect regression spot. Anderson has yet to face the Dodgers. The lack of prior matchups between Anderson and the Dodgers might keep people from investing in Los Angeles but on a two game slate this is the perfect edge. Anderson is due for regression. Tonight is the night that we fade Atlanta’s chalky starting pitcher in tonight’s early game! Invest in LA’s hard hitting lefties. This includes: Corey Seager, Max Muncy, Joc Pederson and Cody Bellinger. The Dodgers are favored at -137 with an 8.5 O/U.
